Setting Sail to Rose Island

The sun was just beginning to rise as I made my way to the dock, ready for a day of adventure with the Swimming Pigs experience. The boat was comfortable, and the crew was friendly, setting the tone for a laid-back day on the water. As we cruised through the crystal-clear waters of the Bahamas, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement. The views of Paradise Island, Pearl Island, and Gilligan Island were breathtaking, each one a reminder of the beauty that the Caribbean has to offer.

The journey to Rose Island was a short 30-minute ride, but it was filled with anticipation. I had heard so much about the famous swimming pigs, and I was eager to see them for myself. Holding a baby piglet was a highlight of the day. Its soft, bristly fur and curious snout made for an adorable encounter. The guides were attentive, ensuring that the pigs were comfortable and that the area was clean. They even scooped up any piggy surprises, so we didn’t have to worry about swimming with anything unpleasant.

After spending time with the pigs, I took the opportunity to explore the island. There was a trampoline and swings, perfect for a bit of playful fun. The beach was ours to enjoy, with plenty of space to spread out and soak up the sun. The water was inviting, and I couldn’t resist diving in for a swim.

Relaxing in Paradise

As the day unfolded, I found myself lounging on a beach chair, sipping a tropical drink, and enjoying the laid-back atmosphere. The lunch provided was a mix of local flavors, though it wasn’t the highlight of the day. The rice and beans, fried chicken, and salad were filling, but the real treat was the view and the company of fellow adventurers.

The tour guides were relaxed and didn’t pressure us for tips, which added to the easygoing vibe of the day. On the way back to Nassau, we stopped by a cove to see turtles, a perfect ending to a day filled with unique animal encounters.

Despite the commercialized nature of the experience, the beauty of the island and the joy of interacting with the pigs made it a memorable adventure.
