• Ahuriri Napier i-SITE Visitor Information Centre - Begin the tour by boarding the shuttle van for a brief transfer to the base in Ahuriri, Napier. Enjoy the scenic beach and charming houses, a favorite spot for visitors.

• 2 Nelson Quay - The cycle tour kicks off at the Takaro Trails base located at 9 Nelson Quay, Ahuriri, Napier. Start with a briefing to decide the cycling distance on the northern route for the day. Begin the journey by cycling a short distance to the National Tobacco Building, renowned for its unique Art Deco architecture and one of New Zealand’s most photographed sites. Visit the Tony Bish Urban Winery for a delightful wine tasting! Continue on the cycle trail, winding approximately 10kms through a low-lying wetland area, which was part of a large tidal inlet before the 1931 earthquake. The trail proceeds through sheep farming areas, completing a 20km loop back to Ahuriri. Conclude with a satisfying lunch and drink on the deck of one of the many waterside bars or a seaside café in Ahuriri.

• Ahuriri Napier i-SITE Visitor Information Centre - At a designated time, return to the base to catch the shuttle to the Napier i-SITE, where you can wait for the ship transfer to the port and your cruise ship.

Discover Hawke’s Bay by bike – enjoy a delightful and leisurely ride to explore the region’s top wineries. Opt for a wine tasting or savor a meal before returning to Takaro base in Ahuriri. A shuttle service is available to transport you to and from the Napier I-site, which is 4km away.

Shuttle schedules will be arranged based on your ship’s arrival time, with our van ready approximately one hour after you disembark. (Please note: not all wineries operate daily, so check the opening days listed below.)

Your journey is a relaxed, self-guided cycling route, ranging from 20km/12 miles (about 2 hours of cycling) to 40km/24 miles if you prefer a longer ride. The path follows a dedicated cycleway along the Pacific Ocean, through farmland, and an estuary, where you can enjoy a birdlife sanctuary. Along the way, visit some of our internationally acclaimed wineries, such as Crab Farm, Mission Estate, Church Road, and Urban Winery, all located within 7-13km.

Please remember to book the wineries in advance, as they tend to be busy on cruise days!
