There are a lot of impressive buildings from Mumbai’s golden period here. \n\n Marine Drive in Mumbai: Marine Drive located in the central Mumbai, built in the 1920s and 30s on land reclaimed from the sea, is Mumbai’s most famous thoroughfare. \n\nGateway of India: Mumbai’s principal landmark, the Gateway of India is a huge archway on the water’s edge at Apollo Bunder. It is the starting point for most tourists who want to explore the city. This famous monument was built to commemorate the visit of the first ever British Monarch, King George V and Queen Mary in 1911.\n\nFlora Fountain/ Hutama Chowk: This fountain situated in the heart of the city was erected in 1869 in honour of a British Governor of Bombay. Statues representing Justice and Mercy surmount the Central structure.\n\n Dhobi Ghat: unique feature of Mumbai, the dhobi is a traditional laundryman, who will collect your dirty linen, wash it, and return it neatly pressed to your doorstep, all for a pittance. The “laundries” are called “ghats”: row upon row of concrete wash pens, each fitted with its own flogging stone. \n\nAs per the timings, you will be transferred to the airport or your address with sweet memories of the tour.\n\nPoints of Interest\n\n- Mumbai

Additional Information

Mumbai, a vibrant, youthful city, stands proudly as the most ethnically diverse city in India, courtesy of its confluence of different cultural influences. Previously known as Bombay, it is the capital of Maharashtra state and rests in the southwestern corner of India on a peninsula originally made up of seven islets along the KONKAN COAST. Bursting with the audacious self-assurance of a daring entrepreneur and an unruffled ‘Bindass’ (untroubled) demeanor, Mumbai also stands as the nation’s financial and commercial nucleus, boasting a primary port on the Arabian Sea.

Fantastic Mumbai tour - We had a 1.5 day tour in Mumbai. The city trafic usually gets very hectic in the afternoon so we did sight seeing in the morning. The driver took us to the popular spots that we wanted to visit. We visited the heritage sites -The Gateway of India, Tajmahal Palace hotel, Clock tower, The University of Mumbai, Victoria Terminus and City Council building etc. In the afternoon, we had a great walking time on the Juhu beach. Drivers were English speaking and descibed the city's Persian, Portugess and Bristish heritages. We were very happy with the trip planning.

Excellent professionals, I recommend them. - We went on a 13 day tour 10 people in January 2024. From minute 1 of the tour and months before, Travel Astu was taking care of every detail and giving us options according to our intention to travel. Unforeseen events happened with some airlines due to bad weather and the agency redirected the entire organization and gave us excellent options at no cost to us. New tickets, new hotel reservations and always a smile and desire to solve everything. The Spanish-speaking guides are very knowledgeable and super friendly. New vehicles with excellent drivers. I organize trips to India and without hesitation I will continue with them who are already friends for us. Thank you all ! Namaste, Mandala House.
