She’s incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful - and we were all so inspired to learn that she’s the first female guide from Dharavi itself. It felt deeply meaningful to support such an empowering initiative for women in the community. Pooja guided us through every part of Dharavi with care and insight. She explained the fascinating history of the area, the different types of work happening in each section, and how the community functions as a living, breathing ecosystem of creativity and resilience. We loved learning that the name Dharavi comes from Dhara (stream) and Ravi (sun), symbolizing a beautiful blend of flow and light. Everywhere we went, it was heartwarming to see how warmly people - especially children, greeted her. It was clear she’s deeply respected in her community. Thanks to her, we were able to see sides of Dharavi that we never could have discovered on our own. Thank you, Pooja, for a truly memorable, eye-opening, and inspiring experience.
