Dar es Salaam to Selous Game Reserve/Nyerere National Park

Selous Game Reserve - Guests will be collected by their driver/guide at 0800hrs from their hotel, ferry, or airport and begin the journey to Selous GR, with a brief stop in Kibiti town for a hot lunch. The drive to Selous takes approximately 4 to 5 hours. Upon arrival, a boat safari will commence at 1630hrs and continue until sunset.

The boat safari offers close encounters with hippos, crocodiles, and an array of birdlife. Animals often come to the river to drink, and the boat can approach elephants, waterbucks, and others on the riverbanks within a few meters. Crocodiles glide into the water as the boat nears, and hippos appear in close proximity, grunting and blowing steam.

Full Day Game Drive in Selous Game Reserve

Selous Game Reserve - The driver guide will collect guests from Dar es Salaam and drive them to the Selous Game Reserve. This journey takes 3 to 4 hours, with a picnic lunch served en route or at the camp. Arrival at the camp is in the early afternoon, followed by an evening boat safari along the majestic Rufiji River. The river is formed by the confluence of the Kilombero and Luwegu rivers, stretching about 600 kilometers (370 miles) long. Many hippos and crocodiles can be seen here, and large herds of elephants in Tanzania are drawn to the Rufiji River, which flows through the reserve. Approximately 350 species of birds can also be found in the Selous Game Reserve.

Selous Game Reserve - An early morning walking safari with a bushman is followed by breakfast, after which guests will start the drive back to Dar es Salaam, heading to the hotel, airport, or ferry to Zanzibar.
