Really great chocolate experience! - I had a really great time learning about the full process of growing cacao and turning it into chocolate. It was really fun to be able to make my own chocolate bar using traditional methods. Oscar (the guide) was very knowledgable and the family were very friendly. The hotel pick-up was also very convenient. I would thoroughly recommend this tour!

Fantastic Tour Where You Actually Make Chocolate! - This was probably the best chocolate experience I’ve done, even after having traveled to Europe. Most chocolate tours I’ve been on talk you through the process of making chocolate, then you are presented with a bunch of chocolates that you can buy. This tour was different in that you start in the actual field, picking some of the cocoa pods from the tree. Sandra, who makes the chocolate, takes you through every step of the process and you do most of the work! You pick the pods, dig out the seed s (you can eat the pulp around the seed and it’s actually pretty good!), roast them, peel the cocoa beans with a Sandra and her mother, then decide how much sugar to add to your chocolate. You’ll have to do the tour to know the rest of the process! Yuly was my guide for the day and took me out to the farm and she was fantastic to converse with and exchange information about our countries. Her outgoing personality made the tour so much better!

Wonderful hands on experience! Book it! - If you can only do one day trip from Medellín, take this tour. Oscar is a fabulous guide and Sandra and Alicia are a very gracious mother/daughter team that opens their house and farm to visitors. It's a hands on tour, from picking the cacao pods to roasting and grinding the beans and making your own chocolate bars with custom flavors. It's a much shorter ride than going to Guatapé, and you still get the sense of the mountains outside Medellín. Their farm is also filled with coffee trees, and various fruit trees and flowers. Lots of birds too! One of the most authentic tours we've ever been on, and we have visited dozens of countries. Don't hesitate to book it!

Wonderful and unique experience with a fantastic guide in a fantastic finca - Wonderful experience! Visiting this small finca near Medellín was an unforgettable experience. Our guide, Oscar, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, making the journey both educational and enjoyable. The family who runs the farm welcomed us with open arms. We had the unique opportunity to participate in every step of the chocolate-making process and crafting our own chocolate bars. The farm's serene setting and the family's warmth made this tour a highlight of our trip. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic and immersive experience.

Fantastic way you experience and taste every step of making chocolate from RAW cocoa pod to Chocolate. - Our chocolate-making tour with Oscar was an incredibly insightful and delightful experience. From the very start, the journey was filled with engaging activities, beginning with a scenic ride and immersive trips among the towering trees. One of the highlights was cracking open fresh cocoa pods, giving us a genuine, hands-on feel for the process.
Tasting cocoa at every stage of its transformation—from raw beans to fermented, and finally to baked—was a truly fascinating journey for the senses. We even had the chance to create our very own chocolate, customizing it with an array of extra spices and ingredients to suit our tastes.
Adding to the charm, there was an option to purchase some of the exquisite chocolates crafted by the family on the farm—each bite reflecting their passion and expertise. The atmosphere was warm and homey, with the comforting aroma of coffee in the air and the delightful sounds of birds chirping nearby as we relaxed on the veranda. It was an unforgettable experience that blended learning, creativity, and the simple joys of nature.

Highly recommend! - We've taken many tours around the world, and this was truly one of the best! It felt like an authentic experience rather than a typical tourist attraction. The family on the farm was incredibly kind and welcoming—we felt like we were visiting close relatives. We learned so much about the chocolate-making process and loved sampling the delicious treats along the way. The farm itself sits atop a mountain with beautiful views, making the experience even more special. Our guide, Yuly, had such a wonderful personality, making the tour both comfortable and enjoyable. I highly recommend it!

An eye-opener experience! - I had never realized that making chocolate (as in good, dark, organic chocolate) could be 1/ so hard, 2/ so much fun, 3/ so rewarding. The tour organizers are top-notch: knowledgeable and interesting. Efren’s finca –with its gorgeous vistas over the valley– is a welcomed refuge from Medellín’s hurly burly, just 90 minutes away.
Highly recommended.
