• Grotta Preistorica della Cala - The Cala Cave is the first cave opening just a few meters from the sea. It consists of a front and back cave, linked by a narrow passage, resembling an hourglass. Pebbles and bone tools indicate the presence of Neanderthal ancestors during the Middle Paleolithic. Later, Homo Sapiens utilized the cave more systematically. Hunting was essential then, leading to the discovery of various stone tools, faunal remains, marine shells used as ornaments, bone artifacts, and hearths. These findings allow us to imagine lifestyles from 20,000 to 40,000 years ago.
• Lentiscosa - The historic center of Lentiscosa is a hidden gem in the heart of Cilento, where history and faith blend beautifully. Lentiscosa’s signature product is maracuoccio, a rare and ancient legume, recognized as a Slow Food Presidium since 2016. Marracucciata, a representative dish of Cilento cuisine, is made with maracuoccio flour, grown only around Lentiscosa. The flour is mixed with wheat flour, cooked in salted water, and served with golden bread croutons sautéed with oil, onion, garlic, and chili.
