Into the Heart of the Amazon

The Amazon has always held a special place in my heart, not just as a biologist but as a passionate advocate for its preservation. When I heard about the Amazon Jungle Exploration adventure at Calderon River, I knew it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. The promise of exploring the inaccessible rainforest, meeting local guides, and immersing myself in the rich biodiversity was too enticing.

Our journey began in Leticia, where we met our guides, Rocky and Patricia, along with our translator, Jimmy. From the start, their warmth and knowledge set the tone for what would be an unforgettable experience. As we embarked on our trek, the jungle enveloped us in its vibrant embrace. Our third day was marked by a refreshing rain, a welcome respite from the heat as we made our way back along a different path. The rain added a new dimension to the jungle, enhancing its colors and sounds, and reminding us of the ever-changing nature of this incredible ecosystem.

We returned to our initial campsite, where the familiar sounds of the jungle greeted us like old friends. As we prepared for our final trek back to Leticia, I reflected on the journey. The Amazon had once again captured my heart, not just with its beauty but with the connections forged with our guides and the local family.
