Good archeological site - Good place to go with a guide that has an understanding of the museums and the 2 sites. Interesting to learn about pre-Ican people in that area of the world.

Not to be adviced if you really want to see the place - The transportation was in an old , to small car. ( local taxis are even better) . The museum was run through in minutes without time for looking at things yourself. Although pickup at your hotel, you where dropped off in middle of la paz. It was all a rushed experience

A good location for landscaop and archaeology - It was a great site to visit, obviously not as impressive as some of the others found elsewhere but a nice location to visit. Lunch was as expected- soup and meat/fish with rice etc. I felt the guide kind of ticked the boxes with his delivery of information and didn’t always understand my English but he did enough of a job to help us understand the site. Worth visiting for the archaeology and landscape.

Tiwanaku ruins with not much structure left - Kind of pathetic that the Tiwanaku ancient site has not much ruins left for viewing. The tour travelled about 4 hours from La Paz with one hour viewing. Hence, the effort vs what we see really disappointing. But nothing the tour can do as reconstruction effort is slow and difficult without proper guidance. I think this historical site was perished due to the past Inca, Spanish and locals not appreciating ancient sites and caused majority of the damage and missing stones and structures as per our tour guide. We can’t compare Tiwanaku with Machu Picchu which was found at later stage and not subject to destruction. Also due to its ancient period vs Inca period.

We came to Bolivia because of THIS... -
We came to Bolivia because of THIS tour. It was OK the guide was obviously a knowledgeable person but didn't put the effort we expected. He treated us fine, but like we came here to take pictures and put them on facebook not at all in our case. He would professionally complete what he intended to say at each visited site, and then quickly returned to his cell phone. It is the best combination if you have a guide who is really passionate and knowledgeable at the same time.

The site itself was badly taken care of and the organization of it is unsatisfactory. The bus was really uncomfortable, no seatbelts for passangers. That is totally irresponsible. The traffic in Bolivia is extremely dangerous. The participants were contrary to the agreement dropped off close to the centre of the chaotic city, La Paz.

A less than enjoyable experience - We did this tour on April 9th. We have now been in South America for about seven weeks and this was the worst tour of many that we have done. We were the only people on the tour that spoke only English. On the bus to the site the tour guide chatted to all the Spanish speakers and this made us feel very left out. She offered no translation to us. When we reached the site we said to her that we thought we must be on the wrong tour. She said that we were not and that this was a bilingual tour. When giving explanations at the site the Spanish rendition was much longer than the English and when questions were asked in Spanish no English translation was forthcoming and the guide's English left a lot to be desired. We chose this tour as our hotel was on a very steep hill and we wanted a hotel pickup and drop-off as my friend uses a walking stick and this was specified in the itinerary. When we arrived back in La Paz the guide said that the driver couldn't drop us back at the hotel as the traffic was too bad. We were turned out of the bus at the top of a very steep hill and told to make our own way to the hotel. We would NOT recommend this tour.
