Sataplia caves - Inaugurated in 1935 to preserve the unique Sataplia Cave and dinosaur imprints discovered within the region, this tourist spot has recently undergone an appealing restoration of its visitor center.

The name ‘Sataplia Cave’ is derived from Sataplia Mountain, titled so due to the local practice of extracting honey from bees that reside on the southern slope of the mountain. The term Sataplia translates to ‘honey location’.

Prometheus caves - Unearthed in the Imereti region in 1984, the Prometheus Cave is among Georgia’s breathtaking natural marvels, bringing forth astounding instances of stalactites, stalagmites, drapes, fossilized waterfalls, cave beads, subterranean lakes and rivers. The Khvamli Mountain, visible from the Prometheus Cave, is allegedly the site where Prometheus was bound according to mythology.

Take note that the journey from Tbilisi to Kutaisi takes approximately four hours one way.

The total trip covers a distance of 450 KM.

  • The duration of transfers are approximate 2-3 hour per way, but with amazin landscapes, the exact duration will depend on the time of day and traffic conditions
