Tbilisi is Georgia’s capital and its biggest city, located alongside the Kura river, and is home to about 1.5 million residents. Its establishment takes us back to the 5th century AD by Vakhtang I of Iberia, and Tbilisi has been the administrative center for various Georgian kingdoms and republics ever since.

Its strategic positioning at the junction of Europe and Asia and its closeness to the profitable Silk Road, has made Tbilisi a battleground for different global powers throughout history.

The ancient city of Mtskheta was once the capital of Kartli, an East Georgian Kingdom from the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD. It’s also notable for being the place where Christianity was declared as Georgia’s official religion in 337. The city comprises of the Jvari Monastery, the Svetitstkhoveli Cathedral, and the Samtavro Monastery.

Half day Tblisi-Mtskheta tour - Our tour guide Kaka was amazing and very professional. His in depth knowledge of the area was very helpful and he made sure we understood the underlying history and facts for each area that we visited. I would recommend Kaka to anyone who visits Georgia
