- Auschwitz-Birkenau - “Judenrampe” - The Judenrampe, or Jewish Ramp, served as a railway unloading platform during the Holocaust from 1942 to 1944 at the Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp. It was situated between the Auschwitz I (main camp) and Auschwitz II-Birkenau camps.
Today, the Judenrampe stands as a memorial site with plaques commemorating the victims. Unlike the infamous “Gate of Death” at Birkenau, the Judenrampe played a crucial yet lesser-known role in the mass deportations.
- Memorial and Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau - The tour begins at Auschwitz camp, where visitors walk through the gate of Auschwitz I, the first camp, initially established as a concentration camp for Polish citizens arrested after Germany annexed the country in 1939. Visitors pass under the notorious sign “Arbeit Macht Frei” (Work Makes You Free). This part of the tour typically lasts two hours, with headsets provided to ensure clear communication from the guide. Group sizes are limited to 30 people, in accordance with the Museum’s regulations, ensuring a comfortable and accessible experience for all. Visitors explore the original wooden barracks, fortified walls, barbed wire fences, gas chambers, and crematoria, which together leave a haunting impression and help visitors understand the immense scale of the Holocaust.
- Memorial and Museum Auschwitz II-Birkenau - Following the visit to Auschwitz camp, the tour continues to the second, larger camp—Birkenau (Auschwitz II), located just 3 minutes away from Auschwitz. Birkenau, the largest camp, was constructed and operated with the sole purpose of making Europe “Judenrein” (free of Jews). The guide continues the powerful narrative at Birkenau, located in the village of Brzezinka. Built in 1941 under the orders of SS commander Heinrich Himmler, the camp could accommodate around 90,000 prisoners. Visitors hear harrowing accounts of the brutal living conditions, the cruel selection process, and the pseudo-scientific medical experiments conducted by Nazi doctors, including Josef Mengele. The tour concludes with the story of liberation when soldiers from the 60th Army of the First Ukrainian Front opened the gates of Auschwitz on January 27, 1945, leaving visitors with a profound understanding that such genocide should never have occurred—and must never happen again.

Great Experience, Friendly Staff - Once again, a brilliant experience with this company, highly communicative about pick up times and points before being promptly collected by another friendly driver (Jacob). The driver was highly informative about what we were going to see and how the day was going to work. As a local, he also took the time to share his knowledge of the city with us to allow our stays here to be enhanced with excellent food and drink. The trip itself was very well priced, we had a fully guided tour of both sights, very well organised from the company.

Tour Auschwitz-birkenau - Me and my parents went to Auschwitz-Birkenau for a guided tour in italian, the guide Margherita was really well prepared and accurate. We also enjoyed the tour with Bart, the driver that took us to Auschwitz-Birkenau and waited us to come back to Krakow. He was very kind, he helped to reach the guide for the tour and even offered to stop along the way so we could have breakfast. His driving was very safe and attentive. The tour has been amazing, thank you Kraków direct

Organised and efficient - We used KrakowDirect for both Auschwitz and the Salt Mines. They were very well organised and very efficient. The drivers / guides were very good indeed. They were informative and punctual. We also had the lunchboxes which were a brilliant idea and very nice! We would definitely recommend them.

Amazing guides resulted in memorable trips! - We booked the two separate trips over two separate days, not a 2 day package (Salt Mine and Auschwitz) through our hotel that we stayed in (Queen Boutique Hotel). How they organised it all to run so smoothly is beyond me.
I would like to thank the company for the guides in particular, who were so professional, knowledgeable and approachable. The guy who took us around the salt mine reassured my wife (she has a fear of heights and confined spaces) and made her at ease, even checking on her etc.
Note that the drive from Krakow to Auschwitz is long (over an hour) through twisty roads. Lovely views along the route though.
Would definitely use again!
Does booking through a hotel carry a premium? Asking because looking at the website, prices seem cheaper there.

Harrowing experience let down by return transfer. - Enjoyable experience slightly let down by return transfer. Bus had only one drop off instead of the two, due to running late (even though stated would be dropped off at pick up point). Not great when there were a few with mobility issues who had already cut short at birkenau due to struggling.
After a day of taking many pictures/videos our mobile batteries were dead, and we were dropped off 20 minutes away from where we were picked up. Not ideal had we not been in that area the day before, as unable to order a bolt/taxi, or find out where we were via maps. Overheard others complaining to guide, only to be told it wasn’t her fault it was the drivers decision, and there was nothing they could do.
Lost points due to this 😩

No value for money - They sell the Auschwitz tour 35€ including the entrance tickets while essentially put you inside the time the free tours to the museum start at 16:00. They start very early from Krakow resulting in you being in an area that has nothing to do for about four hours. We booked through getyourguide and found it very misleading. It's a shame we lost our day, we would pay the same money and maybe make our program better.

Reclamation - The trip was a failure. We queued tickets for 2 hours but didn’t get any. Our day was wasted and we didn’t get to visit in Auschwitz.
We would like to have our money back.

“ No tour is a transfer” - On tour nothing, you are just taken and brought to Auschwitz, in an old bus with dirty upholstery, you have to queue to get the tickets. They give you a paper guide. There's only one gentleman who organizes. We entered Auschwitz at 17 and 18: 20 were coming back. I don't advise you at all. Bad experience.
