  • Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau - Visit the former Nazi concentration camps at Auschwitz and Birkenau on this 7-hour trip from Krakow. By June 1940, Jews and over 700 political criminals had been sent to Auschwitz and the atrocities had begun.

Birkenau was built by Auschwitz prisoners and by October 1941 was used as an extermination camp. Between 1 and 1.5 million were killed, and approximately 90 percent of those killed were Jews.

Before Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated in January 1945, the SS attempted to blow up the camp and destroy the documentation. They were only partially successful, and the Polish government decided to restore the site as a memorial to the victims.

During this guided tour you will see both death camps Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II - Birkenau. Each part is guided by a professional and certified guide provided by the Auschwitz Birkenau Musuem

A must tour in Krakow - Incredibly moving tour. Highly recommend doing both camps. It is a lot of walking, carry water, hat and sunscreen if doing Birkenau as it is outdoors the majority of the time.

Fantastic - This was a fantastic tour with lots of learning although it was a very sad to see the reality of the situation. Our driver guide Michael was fantastic, we had a 5 hour wait for our English guide for the museum as it was extremely busy. Michael took us for a McDonald that was paid by the company and then we were taking to a festival for a few hours to kill some time, which was fantastic to see some polish culture. Weather was fantastic too so made the day even more enjoyable

Outstanding tour. A MUST for everyone. - The tour was brilliant, although sad. Matt the shuttle driver was great and KrakowDirect team were brilliant, always on hand if an issue. Hotel pick up and drop off, they were slightly earlier than expected but not a problem. The young lady tour guide was very good and very respectful compared to other tour guides that we witnessed. The group wasn’t too big either which was nice. 100% recommend this tour for everyone.

Emotional but well organised trip - Brilliant company, booked online 6 weeks before we came. Tickets sent straight away electronically with pick up time from our hotel. Kristoff our driver arrived bang on 10.50. The small coach was very comfortable, we picked up at 3 more hotels. Kristoff explained how the day would work, we were shown a dvd on the way which is hard hitting but needs to be shown. On arrival at Auschwitz 1 Kristoff took us to meet our guide and explained where to come back to. The tour guide was brilliant, you are given a headset so you can hear all the information that your guide tells you without hearing other guides. Very informative, the gas chamber is very emotional. We then boarded the bus for the short drive to Birkeneau this is much more open, so dress accordingly for the weather. Everything here is outside apart from going in the block. A very emotional place, when you see how long the tailway track is and imagine how people felt arriving there. Very peaceful there now. A place everyone should visit, learnt so much more by going there and if everyone visited the world may be a better place. Kristoff returned us back to the hotel. Super company.

Great except time change - The tour was great but i did find it aggravating that they changed the time (the day before) from 0930 to 1400hrs. Fortunately we were flexible but if you had other stuff booked this would be very inconvenient. It was well organised in every other way however and extremely interesting. Definitely a place to go on an organised tour and not on your own.

Amazing experience - misleading pickup times - Experience from start to finish was brilliant. The the journey and your were both well worth the money. I only wish the description for the event gives all potential pickup times to avoid issues when I was notified less than 12 hours before lla 5:30AM pickup.

A sombre and thought provoking visit but very rushed - It is hard to comprehend the sheer inhumanity that human beings can show to their fellows. The museums of Auschwitz and Birkenau told the story of the evil perpetrated on Jews and other people deemed to be inferior, in a stark and emotional way. My one big criticism is the speed at which we were rushed through the various sites. I understand there are hundreds of visitors each day but we hardly had time to ponder on what we were seeing or even read the plaques which outlined some of the information. This made it seem like a tourist attraction rather than a place which deserves deep reflection and time to absorb the intensity of the suffering that took place there.

BEWARE Of KrakowDirect! - Beware of KrakowDirect! We booked and paid in full three months prior to our desired April 2024 tour date for a group tour of Aushwitz-Birkenau with hotel pickup in Krakow and received a confirmation email and receipt. The confirmation noted that our pickup time might be 15 minutes earlier or later than the time we booked. Which was, of course, pefectly acceptable). The night prior we received a message that our hotel pickup time would be 5 1/2 HOURS EARLIER — a time we could not accommodate. When we told them that, they promised to issue a refund. Thankfully our hotel concierge was able to rebook us with another tour operator two days later. It’s been 4 weeks since KrakowDirect promised us a refund of our 140 EUR ($153 US) and we’ve yet to receive it. They do not respond to emails inquiring about the missing refund. We’ve never encountered this in years of booking tours, airport transfers, etc. BUYER BEWARE
