Tour of Kerala with driver Sinto - We arranged a 6-day, 5-night tour of Kerala with George Joseph from Iris Holidays. It was easy to schedule with George and he quickly accommodated updates as our plans changed. The tour included a car and our wonderful driver Sinto. Although we are experienced travelers having Sinto look out for us and offering options made traveling easier. Highlights of the trip were: - Eravikulam National Park where we spotted dozens of Nigili Tahr. - A guided hike through a tea plantation, (was going to do a longer trek to a peak but rain was in the forecast) - Bamboo rafting and trekking in Periyar Tiger Reserve which includes LEECHES! The park does outfit you with protective gear and only had one draw blood. - Attended a Kathakali Performance which we were both surprised how much we enjoyed it. Assumed it was going to be one of those “tourist” shows with all westerners in attendance but the majority of the audience were from India. The only experience I wished we had skipped was the houseboat with Backwater Brook. Little communication on what was happening and a good portion of the trip was on a big lake.

Awesome Experience with Iris Holidays - We had a wonderful experience with Iris Tours. The itinerary was thoughtfully planned by Arun and our driver Anthony was both knowledgeable and attentive, making us feel truly cared for throughout the trip. Each stop and hotel was well chosen, and we were able to enjoy a wide variety of Kerala’s stunning landscapes.

US to Kerala - First Time Visiting - Highly recommend Anoop as a driver - My mom and I came from the US, and had an awesome trip to Kerala thanks to Anoop and Iris Holidays. Anoop drove us around Kerala for 5 days, and was friendly, safe, attentive, and responsive. He knew a great deal about the local culture, protocols, sights, and made us feel extremely safe in a new place for us. Anoop was extremely chivalrous and punctual, and kept the car very clean during the trip. He also stayed with us at all times (he could have easily left and come back but didn’t) and kept the car safe with our bags always. We went from Kochi, to Munnar, Thekkady, Alleppey (house boat), and back to Kochi for our flight. The highlights of the trip were the Leaf resort in Munnar, Martial Arts in Munnar, and riding an Elephant in Thekkady. If you’re non-Veg, the prawn on the houseboat was out of this world, and I’m a big foodie so that’s a high remark. I believe the chef was Ajit - PLEASE request him as your chef for the houseboat. One part of the trip that felt rushed was the first day in Kochi - I’d recommend going straight to Munnar (from landing/starting) to Munnar and doing a full day or two in Kochi as it’s a big city with a lot to see. We also didn’t love the Travencore hotel in Kochi so if you’re a bougie traveler, request to stay at a nicer hotel or book it yourself. We personally booked the Taj Malabar on final night in Kochi and highly recommend it if it’s within your price range. One other piece of feedback is that Iris Holidays never contacted us to check in on the trip once we started. Luckily we were in great hands with Anoop but we’d have loved some sort of check-in from the Iris team that we booked the reservation through and communicated with for months leading up to the trip. We highly recommend requesting Anoop, and using Iris Holidays for anyone traveling to Kerala.

Unforgettable experience with top-notch service! 🌟 Unforgettable experience with top-notch service! 🌟 I would like to extend my deepest thanks to the company that organized our trip — everything was extremely well planned and smooth. We started in Munnar, which was breathtaking with its lush green hills and natural beauty. Then we had a peaceful and unique experience on the houseboat, surrounded by calm waters and serene views. We wrapped up our journey with a luxurious stay at Blanket Resort, which exceeded all expectations. A very special thanks to our driver Afsal, who was kind, professional, and incredibly helpful. Even late at night when we weren’t feeling well, he stayed with us at the hospital, offered full support, and made sure we recovered safely. His presence truly made our trip more comfortable and unforgettable. Thank you all for making this journey so memorable — we’ll definitely recommend this experience to others!

Great way to experience Kerala - The 5 night Kerala tour gives a great experience of this beautiful region. From the high mountains in Munnar to backwaters of Allepy you can enjoy what Kerala has to offer. The trip includes accomodation and private transportation between places so you can just sit back and enjoy.

Great tour but with a few glitches. - Overall I really enjoyed this trip and it was very good value. I reached places in Kerala I would have struggled to explore without such a tour. It was somewhat chaotic, hence the review lost a star. The itinerary changed from that advertised, which did not suit me. This was however quickly corrected. I struggled a bit again to get a suitable hotel in Cochin at the end of the trip. Again a solution appeared which I was delighted with. However it involved a lot of email correspondence during the trip! My driver Benny was truly skilled and I felt safe as he negotiated the traffic on narrow roads and streets. He remained delightful, cheerful, calm and patient throughout. Unfortunately his English was limited (and my Malayalam non-existent) so this led to communication problems and at times added to the chaos. The houseboat experience at the end was wonderful - peaceful and calming after the crowds and the busyness of the cities and tourist attractions. The visit to Thekkady included an option to visit Elephant Junction. I have strong ethical reservations about “tame” elephants, and have found evidence that despite their image of strength, being forced to carry people causes spinal damage and pain. This is of course a personal view, but most people seem unaware of the issues, so I question whether any tour company should be offering this. The hotels were of a very good standard and comfortable. The hotel in Cochin I was originally allocated for my last night (admittedly at the last minute due to itinerary change) had very poor reviews (“horrible” in one!) but fortunately I picked this up on time and avoided an unpleasant experience on my last night in Kerala.

Beautiful hotels, lots of rain, easy - This was the perfect way to see Kerala. Nothing left to worry about. All expertly handked and itinerary made by Saranya. The hotels for 4 star package were beautiful. Except for last minute booking in Kochi Aerocity there were bugs, old, and bad breakfast. Akhil our driver was great. Made sure we made it everywhere we could, punctual, friendly. Communication in English was a barrier, we would ask questions and wouldn’t get a response. Changing plans was hard because of this too. Hard to make this a fault tho when we are the foreigners. I wish Iris was a bit more up front that this would be a driver and not a guide. So we would be dropped off but no one to tell us significance of places, what to order, or help us enter places/bargain. Houseboat was out of this world. Spice garden was cool but very aggressive with selling. Going as far to call my friend fat. So would choose a different spice garden to visit. Going during this time of year was hard with the rain. So probably would have skipped safari in the rain although very cool. And should have been told to bring a poncho or not wear a white dress.
