Additional Information

Mercara Gold Estate is a beautiful 12-acre estate located 8 KM from Madikeri. Whilst coffee was growing here since the 1960s we acquired it in 1998 and began a process of transformation by organising it into a well laid out farm with a wide variety coffee, spices and fruit trees. Our vision was to develop Mercara Gold Estate into a fully-integrated unit, we began processing and roasting our coffees on the estate. We follow all time-tested processes with passion to produce our own range of boutique style coffee and well-balanced blends.
Starting 19th September 2023, we add a new attraction to our estate, The Mercara Gold Estate - World Coffee Museum!
Themed to trace the history of coffee from birth and era to present day, this museum will give visitors the most immersive coffee experience ever!

Great tour - Lovely visit, with the guide having good knowledge of the plants in the estate, got to know good stuff about coffee, charge here is 300 per head as against 200 in other coffee estates, but with the museum and complimentary coffee, the tour was wholesome and comprehensive, exactly what a tourist from north would need.

would recommend! - I really enjoyed our tour at the Mercara coffee estate. We had a very enthusiastic guide and the tour even included a look in the production unit and the brand new coffee museum at the estate. The tour was concluded after the closing time of the cafe, but the staff was so friendly to stay late for us.

Okay types ..nothing great.. too expensive - Overall okay experience.. thought it's expensive at 300/- per person. They should charge per family and not per person .. in one way it's a rip off. The tour is good if you are keen to learn .. don't go if you don't have any idea about the type of trees and plants.

"Exploring Mercara Gold Estate: A Journey Through Coffee Cultivation, Spice Farming, and Hospitality" - As a team of 3 students and a faculty member, we visited Mercara Gold Estate in the month of February to perform field testing and study for a research project. The cooperation received from Mercara Gold estate staff members, right from planning the visit to the completion of the visit, is commendable. Mercara is a lush green plantation filled with coffee trees and Indian heritage spices trees. Our tour guide Mr.Ravi, turned out to be an extremely knowledgeable person in the domain and explained to us in detail about the coffee cultivation/harvesting process and spice farming with great passion. He kindly permitted us to conduct an interview with him regarding coffee cultivation and harvesting and answered all our questions in great detail. After the tour of the plantation, we were demonstrated the machinery for coffee roasting, coffee grinding, chicory mixer, chocolate making, etc. Later, we visited the World Coffee Museum in the estate which is a place of delight and a must-visit place for coffee lovers. They also offered complimentary coffee (South Indian filter coffee), which was delicious. Mercara Gold Estate has a mini restaurant and spice market. We also took the opportunity to have lunch in the Estate, and all the staff members were very cooperative and caring. The food was really amazing, and all the spices and multiple varieties of coffee were available for a reasonable price. We sincerely thank the Mercara Estate, and the staff members especially Mr. Ravi for allowing us to conduct the test and data collection in the field and also for making this a memorable experience.

Beautiful walk and informative tour - I had so much fun on the tour! I love gardening, and our guide did such an amazing job describing all of the plants and cultivation techniques. My kids were big fans of the chocolate tasting at the end :) Coffee was delicious, as was lunch. They have a nice little shop with coffee and spices that make great souvenirs. Definitely worth a visit if you like plants, nature walks, coffee, and/or food!

Went to detail a study on coffee and it's plantation. - The estate owners and the collaborators did an excellent job in guiding and briefing about the tour that helps us in enhancing our knowledge and related fields. Hospitality is part of the job that has been executed with utmost proficiency in professional and personal terms .
