Highlights
- Theyyam - Our guide will meet you at your hotel one hour prior to the starting time. We will visit shrines that hold yearly theyyam performances during this experience. You will be accompanied by an English-speaking tour guide who will provide in-depth explanations of the performance and its significance. In order to learn more about the history of the specific theyyam, we will also be engaging with the performers and some locals. After the experience, we will head back to your hotel in Kannur. Since the performers travel between temples to execute theyyam rituals, the location of this activity will vary depending on the dates, but we will always begin our experience in Kannur.

Theyyam is a distinctive dance ritual native to Northern Kerala. The principal performer, known as ‘Theyyam’, is believed to incarnate the god’s spirit during the act. Originating as a form of reverence among tribal communities, the spectacle is both compelling and majestic. The decorations not only augment the event’s seriousness but also lend it a touch of finesse.
On this journey, we are going to visit a temple where the Theyyam show takes place. We will engage with the artists, their families, and locals to comprehend the importance of this cultural art form.

An amazing life experience - I took Mr. Lidin's tour in January and it was a life changing experience. I visited in November and loved it so much I decided to come back for a Theyyam immersive experience. Spent several days with Lidin going to different rituals. The rituals themselves were incredible, but it's Lidin that makes the experience so memorable. He's extremely attentive, accommodating, and knowledgable. He knows so much about this which is very impressive because there is so much to learn about this spectacular ritual. If you're in Kerala, or India for that matter, you have to come for this experience. There truly is nothing like it.

A memorable experience - Mr. Lidin's theyyam tour was an unforgettable trip. We went to Niliyar Bagavati Temple and saw the magnificent theyyam performance live. Lidin guided us through the process, and we had a brief interaction with the performers before to the event. This adds a lot of enthusiasm and energy to witness the performance. This is more than just a tour; it's a wonderful experience!
