- Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum - Situated on Chittar Hill, the construction of the Umaid Bhawan palace took a duration of 14 years with 2000-3000 people employed to build it. This palace was originally built to help farmers by employing them during a period of drought and famine of three consecutive years during the 1920’s. King Umaid Singh commissioned a British architect, Henry V. Lanchester, to design the golden-yellow sandstone palace – having an ‘Indo-Deco’ architectural style he used an extraordinary blend of Western technology and Indian architectural features.
