Worth a repeat! - What a magical evening! I’d been out in the desert, but not at night like this. The sunset was dreamy; if I squinted a little, in my mind’s eye, I saw the camel caravans of old setting up camp for the night. It was definitely NOT a touristy camel safari, and I’m looking forward to doing several nights next time!

Great expereince off the beaten track - We met Bhawani in his art gallery close to the entrance gate to the Fort in Jaisalmer. Although I have lived in India for 26 years, I was travelling with friends who did want to buy souvenirs. Bhawani quoted us a reasonable price on a beautiful bedspread which my friend purchased after scouring all the other textile shops in the fort. He offered to take us into the desert for dinner, having done this before I was not that keen as it was quite touristic and we all ended up on the same dune a few kilometres outside Jaisalmer. However, Bhawani offered us something different as he has recently purchased his own jeep so took us literally off the beaten track about an hour’s ride into the Thar Desert. We were a group of 4 friends so our tour went at our own pace and none of us were interested in riding camels! Bhawani used local villagers to cook a simple but tasty Indian vegetarian meal washed down with some very welcome ice-cold beers and we lay back and looked at the stars that were amazing with no light pollution. Bhawani was great fun, engaged and informative and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience which was excellent value for money shared between 4.

Awesome camel adventure with a night below the milky way - We did a camel desert safari and it was one of the best experiences ever! After a short Jeep ride, we went on the camels to a spot in the desert where we enjoyed a freshly cooked yummy dinner and slept under an open sky! I would recommend this to everyone who is open for an awesome adventure!

Wanderlust and Desert Dust...most amazing memories - To start with the Desert safari has been the most memorable trip of my life and we are very thankful to Bhawani Singh ji who made it happen. If you are looking for a offbeat experience in the Desert dunes than look no further. It can’t get better than this. There are many camps available in Sam Dunes that offer a desert experience but they do not come anywhere close to this experience. If you like the off beat experience, if you enjoy your own company or are happy with just you and your family or set of friends alone in the vast desert then this is an experience that cannot be missed. It all started with deciding to do an off beat safari because Jaisalmer is so full with the desert camps and its difficult to decide which one is better. Also the camps tend to get so full with tourists that you have more tourists on the sand dunes than the sand. So this experience is out of the world. We met Bhawani at the fort where he had advertised for off beat safari. Once we discussed the trip we knew that this was it what we were looking for. Bhawani is a wonderful person to meet. He is humble, well-spoken and will always guide you. He is genuine and also gave us some café references all of which were too good. He had assured us that this will be our most memorable trip and indeed it was. The safari encompasses visiting an oasis in the desert, Khaba fort and the Sand Dunes. We were very well taken care of by Sawai Ji who came to pick us up at the hotel on time and we started our journey in the jeep. He was so courteous and took care of each and every detail of the trip. We first visited the oasis which was a beauty to reckon. So much of water in the desert and the place was magical. The wind blew so strong and the place was so cool in spite of it being 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Sawai ji doubled up as our guide, our photographer, our driver, our cook and our caretaker and everything was executed to perfection. After the oasis we went to Khaba fort, the last fort on the western frontier. The fort was beautiful, stood magnificent in its past glory, was well preserved and we got ample of time to explore the place as well as click so many pictures. There are not many tourists there so the fort is yours. Then we started our journey to the Desert national park. We had not anticipated that this would be the best time ever we would have had in our life. We stopped at Sawai jis village where we started our journey to the dunes via Camels. It was so mesmerizing that we could watch the entire stretch from the top of the camel and it was just us, guided by our camel man Prem Ji. He kept talking and informing us about the desert along the way. We were lucky enough to spot a fox in the wild. Once we reached the sand dunes we were to ourselves. Imagine standing on the sand dunes watching the beautiful sunset and no one is around other than Sawai ji and Prem ji. It was just us. The place is so serene, so peaceful as if time has just paused. Then we were called to relish on some pakoras and snacks. Imagine it’s the desert and you are eating hot pakoras and having chilled beer. What more can one ask for. We were enjoying the dunes while the duo were getting our dinner ready. It was dark by then and we could watch the stars in the sky. Being close to new moon we could not see many stars. Ideal time to visit is no moon day where you can see a billion stars in the sky. We saw a few satellites in the sky and some shooting stars. We really wish we had stayed the night in the desert. Meanwhile our dinner was ready served to us piping hot. Trust me this was the most amazing dinner I have had. Simple yet so very tasty. It was time for us to leave. We dint really want to but had to leave. So with wonderful memories etched in our souls we started our journey back. Since we wanted to spot a deer, Sawai ji ensured that we saw deers on our way back. The trip back home was good too. He dropped us back to our hotel. We remain eternally grateful to Bhawani ji, Sawai ji and Prem ji for enabling such a beautiful experience. I strongly suggest to take this trip and have a wonderful, soul fulfilling experience.
