Colorbox Art Academy - The travellers with be guided through step by step instructions for painting their very own version of Pichvai Painting by trained tutors.
‘’Pichwai’’ are old devotional paintings that originated around 400 years ago, in Nathdwara near Udaipur in Rajasthan, India. These paintings depict life of Srinathji (Lord Krishna). The most common motifs in these paintings are cows and lotus.
At the end of the session they can carry back home the painting as a souvenir of Rajasthani art & culture. All the materials like brushes, paints etc. required to complete their traditional art work will be provided at the venue.
This can be a fun activity for an art loving family or a group to soak themselves in this traditional and artistic workshop.

Pichwai is referred to as divine artwork. Craftsmen portray the divine sentiments on their canvases. The term Pichwai stands for \’backdrop\’, and historically, they were used as ornamental backdrops for the deity Shrinathji (an incarnation of Lord Krishna). Presently, enthusiasts of art globally delight in reviving this traditional art that so eloquently encapsulates the essence of Rajasthan\’s culture.

A break from sightseeing with patient and skilled teachers - We had a superlative experience today at Colorbox. Our teacher was so patient, helping a “not so artistic” mom and dad, with three kids (12, 10, six) at different skill levels navigate a traditional Pichwai painting. They were flexible, patient, and the end product was actually something we will put on our wall. Highly highly recommend it.

Pichwai Painting at Colorbox Art Academy. I will come again! - I enjoyed my time at Colorbox Art Academy. Pichwai Painting class was amazing experience as part of my visit to Jaipur. Loved everything - very kind staff, teacher, environment, tea...It helped me to get a real experience of Jaipur art life and meet very nice local people.
