This full-day kayaking adventure is conducted in a one-way route between the areas of Tinderbox and Taroona, based on the predicted wind direction.
Participants will kayak for about 2 hours in the morning, followed by a lunch break, and then continue kayaking for another 2 hours in the afternoon.
For lunch, savor Tasmania’s renowned produce while unwinding on one of the many stunning beaches.
Throughout the day, be on the lookout for the diverse wildlife inhabiting the Tinderbox Marine Reserve, including the magnificent white-bellied sea eagles, stingrays, seals, and with some luck, a pod of dolphins or a migrating whale.

Glorious sea kayaking day - Wonderful sea kayaking trip! The knowledgeable guides Troy and Rowdy, helped made the trip both safe and fun. They provided all necessary gear and the kayaks were comfortable and stable. We saw eagles and lots of other birds. Plus we encountered Australian Fur Seals. The cliffs were lovely and the caves spectacular. I wish I could give it more stars,

Great day kayaking south from Hobart - Roaring 40s has been operating for years in Tasmania and their experience shows.
The tour normally runs from south to north along the coast but the day we did it the weather meant a north to south run. The trip was easy to book and the company responded to emails when we confirmed that we’d join them at the put-in place at Taroona Beach rather than central Hobart. Alison, the guide was great and adapted the trip, checking in with us, as we headed south in some fairly high seas for commercial kayaking which flattened as the wind veered to the south. Her care and attention really helped.
The tour took us to places that are otherwise hard to access with some impressive cliffs and caves as we headed south. After the tour finished we headed south by road to investigate some of the places that Alison had pointed out. And the supplied lunch was hearty and tasty.
We’d definitely use Roaring 40s again and look forward to doing another trip with them on our next trip to Tasmania.

Magical and highly recommended - Fantastic and a memorable kayaking day. Damian our guide is friendly and Knowledgeable as he guides us through and also gave us tips on how to paddle better and took us between cliffs to do a 180degree turn
Within five minutes of launching, a few dolphins were swimming around us ..
The cliffs are magical

Great Tour! - My wife and I took the tour with Damo and Francie Dec 2023. It was an amazing time getting to see the coast from a unique perspective. Our guides were amazing and gave us a good time. Definitely recommend you give this tour a try.

Awesome River Derwent kayak trip - A great day out kayaking the beautiful waterway of the River Derwent with the Roaring 40's team.
The guides are friendly, professional and ensure that everyone in the group is well prepared, safe and well fed. This is a highly recommended day trip to experience the beautiful cliffs, caves and beaches from Tinderbox to Taroona.

We had the most amazing... - We had the most amazing day on the water with Roaring 40's Kayaking. Our Guide was fantastic, scenery was beautiful, lunch was great and the location for lunch was lovely. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone and everyone.

Great day out on the water! - What a fantastic day out on the water. Lunch was filling, the views amazing! Our guide did great at her job & kept us all out of trouble. The weather did change & we ended up with soggy undies but adds to an interesting day!! We even had a seal playing nearby!

Beautiful and fun - We wanted to book the Tasman Peninsula tour but it was booked out on our preferred dates. Decided to book Hobart’s Cliffs and Caves and it was great! Amazing cliffs and relaxing paddling. The caves were so special and we had a dip at lunch and at the end. The guides were so much fun and helpful, thanks Reg and Jonah!! Wishing you the best! Absolutely loved it!! - Absolutely loved this kayaking tour!! I had only had experience river kayaking in a single kayak so was a little nervous about sea kayaking in a double kayak but it was so enjoyable and beautiful! Our guides, Damo and John, were fantastic, not only making us feel really safe, but were clearly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the area. The scenery was beautiful and lunch was delicious, 10/10 would reccomend!
