Highlights
  • Antelope Island - Many people come to Utah to experience the vast deserts, serene beauty and epic landscapes. But few know that you can experience this so close to downtown Salt Lake City. Combine your trip to the Great Salt Lake with what I consider the only way to visit it by experiencing Antelope Island. This little known island is teaming with wildlife, and you can’t get the quiet of wilderness by simply visiting it near I-80. We will spot for the wild herd of 600 American Bison roaming the island. Amongst the Bison we’ll watch for coyote, bobcat, antelope, porcupine, big-horn sheep, mule deer and if the season is right up to 200,000 migratory birds. You can truly experience Nature in its finest form on this beautiful island. After wildlife spotting, we’ll hike to Buffalo Point on the Island to watch the sunset and take in the breathtaking views.

The Hike is .9 miles round trip. It has a couple steep parts on dirt, but it’s very well traveled. I would designate this as a moderate hiking difficulty, which is less than a mile.

The Tour Vehicle is a 10 Passenger Ford Transit Passenger Van with a High Roof and really great large windows in the back for viewing.

Would definitely recommend! - This was so fun! I love being able to see animals, but in their natural habitat instead of a zoo. This was perfect for that! The guide was really knowledgeable about every animal and bird we saw and there were a ton of bison. The sunset hike at the end wasn't too hard and was a great way to end the trip with beautiful views.

Delightful and stunning - Our guide Leah was delightful as well as knowledgeable. She created a community experience for the 7 of us in the van. Choose the sunset tour if you can. It was stunning.

Majestic views of the landscape and wildlife - I am so grateful I chose this tour. Majestic views of the landscape and wildlife. Our guide Cramon was wonderful. His enthusiasm and appreciation for nature was contagious. The hike was as described, steep at times with rocky terrain, but Cramon planned ample time to climb at a leisurely pace. Thank you for the opportunity to see and learn about this beautiful area.

Best Tour of Salt Lake - If you only have time to do one thing while you are in Salt Lake City, this should be it! Our guide, Cramon, gave shared so much about the Great Salt Lake, the history, the animals, the city, and the landscape. The bison did not disappoint. Plus we caught a glimpse of a coyote, black tail deer, antelope, and lots of birds. The hike at the end was breaktaking. Watching the sunset in absolute quiet, hearing nothing but the wind and the wildlife was so peaceful and grounding. I would absolutely come back to do this tour again with family.

Poorly Executed and NOT what it says in the Brochure/Online - The driver was pleasant and drove the van carefully. He lacked knowledge of the area we visited. There were lots of biting bugs although we had been told that would not be the case. The .9-mile hike was along an ascending trail that was washed out at a number of points and would have been dangerous for anyone with walking or balance issues. The written and online information of the tour said we would be picked up and or returned to our hotel. Neither occurred. We did get a few nice shots of the island's animals. Clearly not worth the cost and I rate it 3.8 out of 5 points at best.
