Setting Sail to Icacos

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I made my way to the dock in Fajardo, ready for a day of adventure on Icacos Island. The promise of crystal-clear waters and a day filled with snorkeling, hiking, and relaxation was too tempting to resist. As a former professional surfer, the ocean has always been my playground, and the thought of exploring a new island was exhilarating.

Christian, our captain for the day, greeted us with a warm smile and a promise of a smooth 20-minute boat ride to the island. After our snorkeling adventure, it was time to explore the island on foot. Jesus, our hiking guide, led us on a 45-minute trek to the top of the island. The hike was a bit challenging, especially in the heat, but the views from the top were worth every step. The Caribbean stretched out before us, a vast expanse of blue that seemed to go on forever.

Jesus shared stories of the island’s history and pointed out unique features along the way. His knowledge and enthusiasm were infectious, and I found myself captivated by the island’s charm. As we made our way back down, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience such a beautiful place.

Relaxation and Reflection

With the day’s adventures behind us, it was time to relax on the beach. I found a spot under an umbrella and let the sound of the waves wash over me. The island was starting to fill up with more visitors, but it still felt like a hidden paradise.

Reflecting on the day, I realized how lucky I am to live a life that allows me to explore such incredible places. Icacos Island is a gem, a place where adventure and relaxation coexist in perfect harmony.
