Embrace the Elements: A Weekend in Fajardo
Fajardo, Puerto Rico, is a place where the elements come alive, especially during the summer months. This weekend, as the skies dance between sun and storm, the city offers a unique opportunity to embrace the elements and explore its natural wonders. With a forecast of partly cloudy skies and a high chance of rain, it’s the perfect time to dive into the lush landscapes and vibrant waters that make Fajardo a must-visit destination.
Start your adventure with a morning visit to El Yunque National Forest, a lush paradise that promises an unforgettable experience. The Rainforest Tour offers a guided exploration of this tropical wonderland, where you can hike through verdant trails and discover hidden waterfalls. As you wander through the forest, the sound of rain on the canopy above creates a symphony of nature, enhancing the sense of adventure. Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit, as a dip in the river is a refreshing way to cool off from the humid air.
“Great Puerto Rico Tour! Loved this tour to El Yunque, Luquillo Beach, and the bio bay! The rainforest hike was super chill and perfect for beginners. So many great food options at the Luquillo kiosks—come hungry! The bio bay was amazing to see, but bring lots of bug spray—the mosquitoes were intense. Overall, an awesome experience!” - Reviewed on 2025-05-08
Kayaking Under the Stars
As the sun sets, the magic of Fajardo’s bioluminescent bay comes to life. The Bio Bay Kayak Tour is an evening adventure that promises to be both thrilling and serene. Guided by a marine biologist, you’ll paddle through the mangrove-lined channels to Laguna Grande, where the water glows with an otherworldly light. The bioluminescence, caused by microscopic organisms, creates a spectacle that feels like paddling through a sea of stars.
This tour is perfect for both seasoned kayakers and beginners, with the earlier tour offering a chance to see the mangroves in the fading light, while the later tour immerses you in complete darkness, enhancing the glow of the water. Remember to bring a change of clothes, as you’ll likely get wet during this unforgettable experience.
“WELL WORTH IT! Javier, Yadiel, Eli and Catalina were amazing! I heard that this wasn’t really what they say but then to experience it myself, it WAS! The bioluminescent glow looked like pixie dust. Specs of blue glitter that glistened in the moonlight. I took the latest tour and couldn’t be happier. Thank you!” - Reviewed on 2025-05-29
A Day of Dual Adventures
For those looking to pack their day with excitement, the Bio Bay and Rainforest Tour offers a full-day exploration of Puerto Rico’s top attractions. Starting in the morning, you’ll be picked up from your hotel and whisked away to El Yunque National Forest. Here, you’ll embark on a nature trail that leads to the stunning La Coca Falls, a perfect spot for photos and a moment of tranquility.
After a morning in the rainforest, the tour takes you to Playa Luquillo, where you can relax on the beach and enjoy a variety of local cuisines at the kiosks. As the day winds down, the adventure continues with a night kayaking tour in Laguna Grande. Paddle through the mangroves and witness the bioluminescent waters light up under the night sky.
“What an awesome day! There were so many companies offering tours of the Rain Forest and Bio Bay, we really combed through the details trying to decide which to choose. Ultimately we decided that spending 2hrs at a river in the rain forest was not where we wanted to devote our time so we chose this one and boy were we glad. We had such a great time in the morning with Angel who was hilarious and an awesome guide. We did go to a river, and had 25 min to swim or rock hop and take photos which was the perfect amount of time. We then spent several hours at the beach, got drinks and fun food at our choice of 60 restaurants. In the evening we kayaked out through the Mangroves to the bio bay and saw the luminescence in the water as we splashed it. Kayaking at night in the dark under the stars was something our whole family will remember. You will enjoy this!” - Reviewed on 2025-02-18
