Highlights
  • Chandni Chowk - The tour kicks off 12pm from outside Chandni Chowk Metro Gate 5 where you’ll be greeted by your foodie guide.

You can’t do anything without a blessing, so the first stop at a Hindu temple gets you set for the day. Start with a small bowl of soaked vadas covered in creamy yogurt and topped with pomegranate seeds, something you’ll have never seen in any Indian takeaway back home.

Walking with your guide, they’ll explain local life and give you an idea of the foodie scene in Old Delhi. In quick succession, you’ll grab a clay cup of sweet frothy lasse before working your way over the finest jalebi in India.

As you let your food settle, you’ll dive into an enormous Sikh temple to take a tour of their 24-hour kitchen which feeds over 30,000 Delhites from all walks of life every single day. Try your hand at making chapattis and stirring enormous pots big enough to feed an army.

Now it’s time to jump into the maze of Old Delhi. Your guide will take you on a walking tour around the narrow streets carefully negotiating passing cows, cycle rickshaws and tiny vendors where you’ll stop to try titbits like pani puris, tasty pakoras and stuffed parathas from a little place that’s been churning them out for almost a century. If you travel in winter, you may even be able to have a taste of a Delhi specialty - a white mousse-like dish covered in saffron and nuts that’s often described as being as fluffy as a cloud.

Your guide will lead you up the steps to a secret little restaurant that’s got no sign outside to try one of the best paneer masala curries in the city, before washing it down with a masala lime soda nearby.

Continue weaving through the winding back alleys until you hit the fragrant spice market. After a walk and talk about the spices and herbs used in Indian cuisine, you’ll head up some secret steps to a magnificent rooftop overlooking the spice market and the rest of Delhi. Take some time to relax, take photos and sip on tea delivered to the roof by a local chaiwalla.

Rested up, it’s on to the final leg where you’ll try several deserts including a carrot halva and a traditionally Mughal dish made from vermicelli noodles topped with a creamy nutty layer.

As you walk back to the Chandni Chowk Metro, your guide will have a paan made for you - a betal leaf filled with dried fruits, syrups and other good things. The perfect end to your foodie adventure in Delhi.

Great food tour! - The tour was really good! We have travelled through India for three weeks but there was a lot of food on the tour that we hadn't seen or tasted anywhere else. It was a great selection of different food and a great experience to visit so many locations and get to know Old Delhi. I would recommend to bring a mask or different face cover for the visit to the spice market to protect yourself from the spice dust there.

Great tour/great guide - Ranveer was a great guide. We enjoyed the tour so much. He was very organized, never hurried anyone who wanted round 2 or 3. He even let us tag along with him after the tour and helped us through the subway going to Khan Market. This tour is a must when you are in Delhi.

Great experience, highly recommend - Highly recommend this street food tour. This was our first day in Delhi and was a fabulous way to introduce us to all the different Indian specialities! Our guide Ranveer was very helpful (found us when we arrived at the wrong metro entrance) and explained everything very well along the way. Luckily there was just 3 of us on the tour, which made getting through the tiny laneways and stairwells much smoother. Highlight was walking through the spice market on the upper levels. Recommend bringing something to cover her nose and mouth as the spice “dust” is very powerful. We enjoyed all the different flavours (some more than others!) but agreed that we never would have tried or entered any of the food spots without this tour.

Great guide. Great experience. - We were guided through the Chandni Chowk markets in Old Delhi by Ranveer. He was very friendly, accommodating, and had great local knowledge. He made us feel at ease and comfortable while walking through the bustling streets, which we would have struggled to navigate without him. We were taken to some of the best street food establishments in the area, and tasted some cuisine that is favoured by the locals. We were able to stand there, try this amazing food while being able to soak in the vibrant atmosphere. We felt like we had plenty of time at each stop and were always offered more food. Ranveer even went above and beyond after the tour by helping us get to our next destination via the metro. He told us which stop to get off and even came with us as it was near where he was headed. Overall a fantastic experience, perfectly balanced so that you could enjoy Chandni Chowk itself and rhe wonderful food.

A delicious taste of Delhi - Highly recommend! The food was incredible and so much, we could barely move afterwards. It was awesome that we learnt a lot about the history of Delhi, and saw a spice market and a Sikh temple during the day too. Tours are often rushed, but our guide gave us all the time we needed, asked if we want seconds, gave us time to take in the experience. I’m so glad we booked the tour.

Fantastic value for money - We first heard about this via UTube and were not disappointed in person. Our tour consisted of approximately 8 people from at least 5 different countries and was BRILLIANT. It was at an easy pace, the food was delicious and plentiful – always asking if we wanted more, explaining what it was, how it was made and when it was eaten. The detour up the stairs in the spice market was a highlight – if not appreciated by the senses!! For the price we paid and the food we ate – we DEFINITELY recommend this tour. Communication in English was clear and understandable.
