Mr - Although only myself and one other walker that accompanied our guide, it was such a great trek. A little dubious how I would be on an 8 Km trek in a river ankle high in cold water, and deeper at times, but heck, it was great. So eased I bit the bullet and went for it. Due to only being the three of us, it was great, the pace was easy, didn't have to wait for the slow ones so to speak, so it was at our own pace. Not a difficult trek, very gradule incline, so not too taxing. Glad i did it, water although cold, felt warm in moments. Great scenery, camera will not do the trek justice. Get out there and do it. Amazing. Thanks Julio, sorry if I have spelt you name wrong.

River Chillar walk. Well worth doing! - My sister and I did the River Chillar trip with Julio and it was a brilliant walk. Julio met us in front of the church near Balcon de Europa just after 9 and he brought us by car to the start of the walk with two other walkers. From there we walked up the dry river bed initially and then into the river to make it to a lovely spot by 12 with a dam making a pool in the river to swim, relax and eat. Julio made the walk so interesting pointing out historical, geological and wildlife features. We walked at a nice steady pace but not too fast to be able to enjoy the beautiful landscape. We were back down to the car by about 2:30pm. Would definitely recommend the walk. Starting early meant that we were shaded by the canyon walls and trees for most of the walk. Such a fabulous natural feature and so much more interesting with a knowledgeable guide. Thank you for a great day Julio.

Highly recommend! - Brilliant trek, which we can’t recommend enough. Julio is a fantastic guide, and the scenery is beautiful. The trek takes about 5hrs with a break in the middle, where you can swim in the river. Essentials = trainers/shoes you don’t mind getting wet, swimwear and snacks + water.

Forget the gym membership, this is exercise. - Having now done the walk to the waterfall again (the 5th time!) We still find it as good as the first time. We had family visiting (adults) that wanted to go, so journey 5 was planned. Trainers (the only thing to wear on your feet), rucksack with water, bread, ham and cheese, sunglasses, camera /phones, hats and a walking pole for me, being the old boy of the bunch. Off we go by car to Nerja, parked near where the Sunday market is. (signed for the "mercadillo"). Parked up, and off we go. We parked the car at 11.00 and at a reasonable pace set off to the waterfall. We stopped about 1 o'clock for a quick water stop and a bite to eat, about 10 minutes, then on we went. Arrived at the water fall about 2.30/2.45. Had the obligatory play under the waterfall, photos etc. (us old boys never grow up), a quick water stop and off we went about 3 ish. The downward trek is as hard as the upward one. The scenery changes every time we go up there, fantastic. A hot July day, but you feel cool despite the heat. We arrived back at the car around 6.30. Anybody thinking they might take a stroll up there, forget it. It is a superb walk, a long way over rough ground, and when you get back you feel like you've done a fair hike, which you have. Care is needed with your footing in a lot of places, but I used a waking pole for the first time and found it a great help. We would recommend this if you are able bodied and quite fit. I fit those categories but will add I am 69 years old, so don't let age put you off. Would definitely recommend it as an excellent day out in natural surroundings.

What an experience! - Everything about this experience was great! After getting picked up from Granada I got to see some truly amazing views of the Spanish landscape en route to Nerja which itself is a beautiful city. Once there we met up with the others going on the trek and then made our way to the river. I advise you bring food, snacks, water and footwear that’s solid/sturdy that you don’t mind getting very wet! Once we started the trek we were encouraged to walk at our own pace to allow us to take pictures or just admire the scenery. The beginning of the trek is on dry land but you eventually make your way to where the river runs. The water was really nice and relaxing to walk in so much so that I was able to use my gimbal for most of the trek and never really felt that this was much of a risk. The height of the water ranged from above my ankles to above my knees for the majority of the trek (other than the start). Some of the views are truly amazing so make sure to take photos! You also have to opportunity to swim in the river so make sure you bring trunks and a towel Overall the experience was amazing and I highly recommend it.

Hiked the Rio Chillar - I highly recommend this hike with guide Julio. I felt much more relaxed having a guide and he was so kind and lovely to be with I could not have been happier! We took our time and made many stops to enjoy the scenery. I was grateful for the walking stick that is part of this tour, really came in handy for the rocky climb and descent. Julio gives you lots of space to do this hike at your own pace and he is available to talk if you want, or be quiet if you prefer. After coming back exhausted, Julio kindly dropped me at my door. This was a great hike in a beautiful place. Go during the week when it is quiet. Thank you so much for a fantastic experience!!

Exhilirating and Fun Trek! - I personally am not a walker, but I was advised by my friends this was a walk everybody who visits Nerja should undertake. I wasn't disappointed! We met our guide Julio, on the steps of the Church on the Balcon de Europa in Nerja. We were then transported to the beginning of the river trek and then began our 4 hours of walking. The scenery is spectacular, especially the waterfall. The walk was exhilirating and it was fun. Julio is a personable guide and when I encountered some arkward moments (remember, I am not a walker) he was always on hand to assist me. The provision of a walking stick was much needed as sometimes the terrain could be slippery. All in all though it was an exciting walk and one that I am glad to have undertaken. Thank you Julio for making it a memorable and safe trek.

Great Experience - This was on my husband’s ‘to-do’ list while we were on the Costa del Sol this year. He had to persuade myself, the 2 kids and the in-laws to give it a go, and we were all really glad he did. Thankfully it was an overcast day, as had it been brilliant hot sunshine I think it would have been a much harder and much less enjoyable walk. Be prepared though - you’ll need sturdy footwear which WILL get wet, water in a rucksack or similar and possibly snacks to keep you going. The riverbed is currently dry for the first part of the hike, but it soon gets wet. Mostly you are walking through knee high water, but in places it’s a bit deeper. Most walkers are wearing swimming shorts etc. There are lovely deep pools for a compete dip, waterfalls for a cool refresh, and rapids to scale over rocks. The river narrows to amazing steep smooth sides with stunning scenery. We walked 7km which was enough for us. This took us 3 hours. But you can go much further. One important thing to note if you are travelling by car - DO NOT park at the entrance/start of the walk. Police tow cars from here. Use the appropriate car parks and be prepared to walk a good 20 minutes to the start point. Also it very much depends on the time of year. During winter months and after heavy rainfall it is not advisable. Highly recommend it for anyone with a decent level of fitness.
