Operating in the sector for more than a decade, we’re the only firm that employs a professional guide and a Marine Biologist as the lead guide. We assure you of top-notch service and authentic information about the bioluminescence and ecosystems we explore. Our founders, two Marine Biologists, established the company with a mission to reveal this incredible natural spectacle to everyone. That’s why numerous customers choose us, seeking intriguing facts, a safe setting, and the opportunity to interact with the Marine Biologist.

  • Every guest must be capable of independently paddling their kayak. A prerequisite is your capacity to ingress and egress the kayak on your own, and to be able to navigate it. For novice kayakers, we strongly recommend the earlier tour.

The maximum permissible weight for each person is 220 lbs. (no exceptions), and guests’ weights will be checked on-site.

  • The owner of the service animal must provide a Licensed Life-vest by the Coast Guard for the animal. The animal must be in total control all the time. Keep in mind that there will be many people around in the dark.
  • Minimum age 6 years
  • Guest under 18 yrs of age must be accompanied by an adult
  • For safety reasons pregnant women cannot participate. (NO exclusions)
  • Kayaks have a weight limit of 220 lbs. per person. (NO exclusions) To assure weight restriction is met, guests will be weighed on-site.
  • Guests must be able to row their kayaks - guides will assist when needed but they will not tow the kayak
  • Our kayaks are all tandem kayaks for two people - you are booking per person not per kayak.
  • Guest that are not able to complete the tour for any reason will not be provided a refund of any type.
  • All guests must be able to row their kayaks by themselves. One of the requirements is that you are able to get in and out of the kayak on your own and be able to maneuver it. If you are an unexperienced kayaker we highly suggest you choose the earlier tour.
  • If one space is left, that means there is 1 space (for 1 person) on a tandem kayak (No single kayaks available). You will be accompanied by another guest on the tour.
  • All guests must arrive 30 mins before the start of the tour. The drive from San Juan can be about an hour and 20-30 mins depending on traffic. Please plan accordingly
  • Due to the immense popularity the Bio Bay tour, at times can get crowded. It’s not uncommon to meet up with other tour groups waiting to access the canal leading to the lagoon. There can be bumping other kayaks along the way. When crowded conditions warrant, Pure Adventure will provide extra guides for your safety.
  • Please keep in mind that this tour takes place in a natural environment and that the bioluminescent phenomenon, although rare, can be seen year round. The intensity of brightness is unpredictable and can vary.
  • In order to best appreciate the bioluminescent phenomena our tours run at sunset and early evening and it can get quite dark in the mangrove canal. So, if you are afraid of darkness, a first time kayaker, or have small kids we strongly suggest taking the earlier, sunset trip. This way you can see where you are going, get use to the environment and sharpen your kayaking skills
  • No Expecting Mothers
  • For safety reasons, children under 6 years old CANNOT participate in PURE ADVENTURE tour.
  • Those who have epilepsy, back problems, heart conditions, dizziness, recent surgery or any other condition that may put life in risk are not allowed to participate in PURE ADVENTURE tour.

A must do in Puerto Rico - This kayaking tour was outstanding! Natalia, Javier, Enrique, Amaury and Catalina went out of their way to make sure everyone had an amazing time!! From the time of arrival to our departure everything was well organized. Safety was exercised through out the entire so bringing children over the age of 6 is not a problem! I highly recommend the 6 pm tour-the sunset in the big lagoon was the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen! You must witness this bioluminescence langoon. Highly recommended!!

Enjoyed the Bio Bay - There are several companies that offer this tour; however, we were very pleased with Pure Adventure. We chose the 6 p.m. tour which worked perfectly -- ample parking at that time; still daylight as you kayaked out to the bay, which made the return trip in darkness less intimidating.

Party with Fantastic Little Bits at the Bottom of the Food Chain! - Natalia and Company were very professional. They were amusing, engaging and well educated. They controlled the movement of the group and ensured our safety all while exposing us to this wonder of nature. We were actually happy that we went into the bio bay while it was light so that we could clearly see our unique environment and came out in the dark. Loved the entire experience!

Excellent Experience - The check-in process was easy, and all of the guides were provided an enjoyable and fun experience. They made sure to explain the science behind the phenomenon of bioluminesence as well as show some of the constellations in the night sky. It was an experience I would do again! Shout out to Enrique, Javier, Yadiel, Natalia, and Catalina.

Just fabulous! - Isabella and the rest of the crew were amazing. There was so much glow in the water. We were lucky to have gone right after it rained for 3 days straight. Surreal experience both kayaking and the bioluminescence. Highly recommend them..

Magical experience - This is a must thing to do if your in the area when visiting PR. Definitely, load up on bug spray prior to heading out and water cameras or water proof pouches for phones otherwise leave them as they will get wet. I would also recommend bringing an extra set clothes as you will get wet. You kayak down the channel into Bio Bay which is very peaceful and relaxing. You watch the sunset and then after the sun goes down all the magic happens. I have never seen anything like this and it's truly incredible. The crew was amazing and gave lots of info about the bioluminescent that are active in this area. It was magical!

Fun and a bonding moment - Very fun experience that can be physically taxing but so worth it. Due to a full moon, a tarp had to be used but the experience was great overall and it did not take away from the fun, it was a beautiful night. The group made the experience fun, easy, and safe, and quite humorous. I recommend 10/10. Also quite the couples therapy when it comes to communication.
