Based on the description of the tour, we expected to see something like a dozen specific sites along the trail - in reality we only saw a few. Our guide spent a lot of time asking people in our group questions, like "if you weren't doing this tour today, what would you be doing instead" or other general things not directly related to the tour - presumably to connect with the people, but our interest was actually seeing a good number of sites along the trail and getting historical background on them. He seemed more interested in being funny and debunking typical understandings of what occurred historically than insuring we saw a lot of the sites. If he hadn't given us good input regarding a small number of sites, our rating would be completely dissatisfied. The freedom trail includes many sites of real significance in the early history of our country - it was super disappointing to see only a limited number of them compared to what was described on the website.

Diana was our guide. She walked too fast for the elderly people in the group. She did not wait for the entire group to gather around and started talking. She gets bogged down in the minutiae and loses the plot when giving explanations. Her style is a lecture style that is appropriate for college, not a walking tour. I am very disappointed on behalf of myself and my two elderly tourist guests who were visiting Boston for the first time.

It was very enjoyable. I would not have remembered our history lessons without the tour. Plus we were given extra fun and interesting bits of information which made it worth our time and money.
