Additional Information

Embark on an exclusive tour of Hawaii Island’s lone Salt Farm – recently showcased on Guy Fieri’s show. Our facility, set on a stunning 7-acre waterfront property, resides within the Hawaii Ocean Science & Technology Park and occupies a historic salt mining region utilized by Hawaiians for many ages.

Our Lead Salt Maker marries ancestral techniques and modern technology: she is renowned for hand-harvesting the only salt derived from Deep Ocean Waters, originating as far as 2,200 feet beneath the surface.

On the tour, your guide will familiarize you with the site’s history, the significance of salt in Hawaiian culture, our unique salt production methodology, and the long journey our pristine, mineral-rich waters undertook through deep-sea currents before reaching us.

The tour culminates with a tasting session where you can sample our diverse variants of salt, both flavored and smoked.

We also offer Cold Deep Ocean Water Foot Soaks as an additional service. Plus, if our tour doesn’t fit into your itinerary, feel free to stop by our shop anytime.

Deep Sea Salt Processing Experience - This is a great experience and chance to learn about how deep sea salt is harvested and processed. Sea water used for this process is drawn from 4200 feet deep in the adjoining Pacific Ocean to make some of the purist sea salt there is. You also get a chance to learn about the environmental efforts to clean up plastics in the northern Hawaiian island areas that are endangering sea life. You learn a lot, get to try some delicious sea salt and the hosts do a great job.

Highly Recommended - The tour guide was excellent at explaining everything and giving us time for questions and pictures. It’s all quite fascinating, and I highly recommend the tour. The sea salt tasting at the end was fun and gave us a chance to sample many varieties. I’m excited about the salts and the magnesium spray that I’ll be taking home.

Nice activity if you are close to the airport. - Nice activity if you are near the airport and have a few hours to space. Interesting to see how deep water salt (as far as i know the only facility to do this) is made. Knowledgeable guide. Be prepared to be hot especially in the evaporation section.

It was interesting ok for the price but we wouldn't do the foot soak again. - The setting was beautiful. The information was interesting. The foot soak was cooler than expected in fact before freezing according to the thermometer everyone had to get out and stand in the sun.
