Jon & Melissa Soak Their Feet - The Kona Salt farm has beautiful views of the ocean. Whales pass right by here when it’s the season for them! The tour was very interesting and informative! The ladies who work there are all very kind & remembered our names throughout the tour. At the end of the tour we got to taste all the salts (lots of flavored salts) with tomatoes, cucumbers & pineapple. My favorite was the orange salt, yummy on pineapple! After that, we did the deep ocean water foot soak. Very refreshing!

A lot of information in a short time - The tour was interesting but our guide did talk very fast and gave a lot of information in a sort amount of time. It is interesting that they have a pipeline that goes 2200 feet down into the ocean to procure the salt water to harvest the salt from. We also did the foot soak which was extremely cold! It is the sea water that they bring up from the 2200 foot depth and then add magnesium ( a by product of the sea salt harvesting) that you soak your feet in. No one could keep their feet in for more than about 3 minutes before pulling them out to warm up before putting them back in. An interesting tour and lots of salts to choose from in the gift shop.

Salt Sun & fun! - This was one of the most interesting events we did in Hawaii. We learned how salt and magnesium are made and how the different temperatures changed the taste. The staff were very knowledgeable and patient with us. You also get to try different types of salt. PS do the foot bath. It was fantastic. It is a little hard to find but well worth the time and cost. We learned a lot and met some wonderful people. Thank you!

Friendly staff and tasty salt - This was a beautiful location inside the farm. I was surprises or learn they host business events as well as weddings. Learning about how the salt is made was very interesting. The salt tasting at the end was amazing! I am visually impaired and when I asked one of the employees for help they set me up with my own private tasting. I was able to take my time and really give feedback and discuss the taste and texture with the employee. They were sensitive to my allergy of garlic. I did buy one of the garlic salts as my family is not sensitive to garlic like I am. The salt from this farm is light and flakey. Not granular like you get from other salts. It melts in your mouth. The flavor combinations they put together are interesting and delightful and enhance the most boring of salads!Thank you for helping me experience your salt!

Sensational Salt! - This is a must see. We did this excursion as part of our Trafalgar Hawaii tour. Our guide and hosts, Jack & Jen, were thoughtful and informative with sincere consideration of the history and of the future economy. The taste testing was fun, and our lunch was the best meal we've had on our trip thus far. Warm, familial, and delicious! Mahalo!

Worst thing we did in Hawaii - We read so many amazing reviews but our experience did not live up to expectations. We did our tasting before the tour. The staff member did tell us which salts went better with the included foods of pineapple/cucumber/tomato. There was no follow up or opportunity to ask any further questions. The tour guide was very nice but she was not engaging of her audience. Her entire presentation sounded like she was trying to recite her memorized lines. In the first 2 minutes, she introduced herself to the entire group and told us her name 3 times. Same line used each time. She also had seemed to have no awareness of the group’s interest. Whether we had done something or not heard of what she was talking about, she would say “Great” and go right back into her script. Her pattern was the following. 1. Now I’d like to tell you about the monk seals 2. A couple of statements about monk seals 3. Now that I’ve told you about monk seals, we can resume our tour The process of getting the salt out of the ocean was only touched upon briefly. Very little discussion of what made the salt different or why it had such a strong taste. This tour was a major disappointment She was pleasant but was just not ready.
