I was grateful for my winter knit hat, a souvenir from a previous adventure in Denver.

Dress warmly, with layers that cover your legs, and sit as close to the front of the bus as possible to avoid the bone-rattling bumps of the ride. Take advantage of restroom breaks, as the journey is long and bumpy, and bring a tripod for your camera to capture the stunning night sky.
