Highlights
  • Katchikally Crocodile Pool - The Kachikally Crocodile Pool is one of three sacred crocodile pools in the Gambia. The crocodile is a symbol of fertility and the sacred sites are still used for rituals by women who find difficulties getting pregnant. The legend of crocodiles bringing fertility to women dates back 500 years when the Bojang family first settled in the area. It’s said that the fertility spirit rewarded their kindness by providing them with a magic pool. All they had to do was populate it with wildlife. So, they put two crocodiles in the pool. Locals believe that the original two are ancestral to the crocodiles who inhabit it today.\n\nKachikally crocodile pool is nestled within six acres of tropical forest and there are plenty of nature trails and footpaths to follow if you want to see more of the park.

Fantastic day! - I took a tour to Fathala safari reserve with Kassama tours and it was an amazing day. The whole day was brilliantly organised by Jimmy and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The journey to Fathala was memorable and the safari tour was beyond my expectations - up close to white rhino, zebras, antelope and giraffe. Jimmy is a great tour guide and very friendly and knowledgeable. This was my third tour with him and I'd highly recommend him. Thanks Jimmy!

See It All with Kassama Tours - We really enjoyed this tour with Jimmy. What an adventure. Riding through the dusty streets of Banjul on December 6, 2022, we got stopped twice by the police, which may have been partly due to a presidential motorcade in progress on its way to visit the cruise ship from which we had just departed for the day. The museum at the Kachikally crocodile pool was an added bonus and we enjoyed quickly learning a lot about rituals, ceremonies, musical instruments and history in Gambia from Jimmy. Our guide at the crocodile pool was great working with the crocks and our cameras. Jimmy led us on a whirlwind walk which snaked through a large market filled with all sorts of wonderful sights, sounds, smells and plenty of things to touch as “Baby Driver” always positioned himself at the end of our group making sure we didn’t turn the wrong way or get lost when we got distracted. When we arrived in Daranka at Bareto Tenda, it was low tide for the beginning of our boat trip so we had to be carried onto the boats by local guys who also handed us cold beers for our journey though the mangroves where the vertical roots were covered with mussels. Because the tide was low, we got to walk through the squishy mud stream (the guides carried our shoes and even washed our feet!) which led to the fantastically giant elephant tree. This was a treat for not only the eyes but also for the spirit as all six of us climbed INSIDE the tree to a ceremonial space. Jimmy and “Baby Driver” took great care of us throughout the day and made our short time in The Gambia fun and safe. Be prepared for paying a considerable amount for the boat ride based on your choices (I’ve included a photo of the schedule of charges) plus all the helpers there looking for tips…ask Jimmy for guidance with that. Our group of four was an adventurous bunch of 70-year-old seniors and we all recommend this excellent tour. We did have a bit of trouble finding Jimmy at the port, but with the assistance of port security guard Mo Modou (abaraká: “thank you”) we met up with him just outside the gate but not holding up a sign with our name or Kassama Tours.

Perfect day! Ideal for starting to get to know the country. - An excellently organized day with a person who was born and lives in the places. Friendly atmosphere throughout the day, which lasted from 9 am to 5 pm. We saw a lot of interesting places. They tasted food at a local restaurant. They got to know the culture and great people. Amazing experience. I recommend using it for further exploration of The Gambia

The best guide you could ever wish for! - We did 2 tours with this guide during our stay in The Gambia. 🇬🇲 We did the Banjul City tour & the Safari Tour. Both amazing! 😍 Jimmy, the guide, was very kind, respectful, funny and a true blessing to have with us during these tours. He knows what he is doing and only wants the best for his customers. His English is very fluent and he even tried to communicate with us in our native language (the extra mile!! 😄). Not only did we have an amazing experience, but we made a friend for life.

Crocodiles in gambia tour - Pick up from hotel was on Time, Bubu (Jimmy) communicated prior to the tour He is very knowledgeable friendly and excellent company Happy and smiling from start to finish. Crocodile sanctuary was nice learning gambian history was also interesting. Serekunda market was an experience busy with traffic and people is a understatement rather overwhelming but watching the local people is a good experience. Lamin Lodge and the mangrove boat tour was a little underwhelming and expensive if you use the tariff published. Was able to negotiate a much better price. Which suited the the actual activity. All in all the tour was okay, having Bubu (Jimmy) made it much better If you book with Kassama tours ask for Bubu (Jimmy) you won't regret it.

Go, but don’t go on the river cruise! - Jimmy, our guide was great, good English and informative. The actual tour was so so. The Arch was interesting and we had enough time there. Two of the ship tours stopped by while we were there and they only had time for photos from street level whereas we were on the top level. The crocodile farm was really good, we actually strolled around them and even stroked them. The river cruise was a total waste of time and the market was mediocre.
