Walk through the streets, temples, markets, and fountains, following in the footsteps of classical Greeks, ancient Romans, and St. Paul. Refreshments and rest stops are available at local cafes near the entrance.
Archaeological Site Mycenae - Next, visit the imposing remains of Ancient Mycenae, a crucial site in the development of ancient Greece. Home to the citadel of the legendary Agamemnon, leader of the Greeks during the Trojan War. The ‘Mycenaean period’ (1600-1100 BC) references this city, highlighting its importance in Greek civilization. Pass through the 20-foot-wide city walls, enter the Lion’s Gate to Agamemnon’s throne room, and explore his palace. A short stop nearby allows you to see the awe-inspiring Treasury of Atreus and visit the modern on-site museum housing many precious artifacts from the site.
Nafplio - After visiting many sites in the morning, enjoy lunch in the beautiful medieval and historical port city of Nafplio by the sea, with views of the Venetian castle of Bourtzi in the bay. This city has an artistic feel, so take time to stroll and explore the local craft shops and boutiques of the charming old city. Don’t miss dining at the seafront in the evening.

The Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus - Visit the UNESCO-listed Sanctuary of Asklepios, the first healing center of the ancient world. See the impressive Theatre of Epidaurus, one of the most visited ancient sites in Greece. The temple and theatre date from the 4th century and are masterpieces of classical Greek architecture. Test its world-famous acoustics with a poem or a song!
Archaeological Site of Mystra - In the southeast Peloponnese, visit the 800-year-old ruins of the medieval city and UNESCO site of Mystras, once the seat of Byzantine power in the region. The site includes palaces, residences, mansions, churches, monasteries, water and drainage works, commercial workshops, extensive streets, and fortifications.
Sparta - Spend time for lunch and explore this historic town with its ancient ruins, museum, and olive oil museum before continuing to Olympia for the evening.
ANCIENT OLYMPIA - NAFPAKTOS - GALAXITHI
Archaeological Site of Olympia - Dedicate the morning to Ancient Olympia, one of the most magical locations in Greece. Famous for its ancient Olympic Games, see where the original athletes trained and competed. The site includes the Temple of Zeus and Hera, where the Olympic Flame is lit, the workshop of Phidias, and an extensive museum with significant masterpieces from the site.
Rion-Antirion Bridge - After Olympia, head to the west coast to see one of the longest suspension bridges in the world, a great engineering feat connecting the Peloponnese to the Greek mainland on the way to Delphi.
Nafpaktos Old Port - A stunningly beautiful Venetian port and perfect lunch stop. Nafpaktos is a little-known village you will never forget.
Galaxidi - Near the ancient port of Delphi, this beautiful village is an ideal evening stop. Wander through the pretty streets, cafes, and restaurants with sea views, away from the more touristy feel of Delphi. Enjoy a warm welcome and amazing local cuisine.
DELPHI - HOSIOS LOUKAS - ARACHOVA
Delphi - Set on wide terraces along the hillside, Delphi’s landslides of previous centuries preserved much of the ancient remains. See the 4th century BC Temple of Apollo, where the Oracle spoke her prophecies, the Castalian Spring, theatre, treasury buildings, temples of Athena, and gymnasium where athletes gathered before the Pythian games. Learn about the rich mythology and history of these structures.
Monastery of Hosios Loukas - Visit one of the most important and well-preserved Byzantine monasteries, a UNESCO site. Explore its 1100-year-old architecture and unique frescoes. This visit is optional.
Arachova - Enjoy lunch and explore local craft shops with wonderful views over the olive-filled Pleistos River valley before continuing to Kalambaka in the shadow of Meteora.
Delphi Archaeological Museum - A modern museum dedicated to finds from Delphi, dating back to at least 1500 BC. See outstanding pieces like the Naxos Sphinx, the twin Kouroi, and the famous Bronze Charioteer.
METEORA - KALAMBAKA
Meteora - After breakfast, ascend to the monasteries built on natural sandstone rock pillars up to 1,312 feet high. The six remaining monasteries date from the 14th century and offer a remarkable combination of nature and spiritual significance. Visit at least two of the most outstanding monasteries, such as the Grand Meteora Monastery, Varlaam, or Agiou Stefanou, and learn about their history and the hermits and monks who lived there, along with majestic landscape views.
