- Temple of Olympian Zeus - MEETING YOUR GUIDE. Your guide will be waiting at the Arch of Hadrian to meet you at your selected time, opposite the magnificent Temple of Zeus (not entered). The tour begins with fascinating stories and myths about Zeus and his influence on the people of Athens.
Dedicated to Zeus, the leader of the Olympian Gods, this enormous Temple predates the Acropolis and is the largest ever built. It housed one of the ancient world’s wonders: a gigantic statue of Zeus seated on a throne over 12 meters tall, adorned with gold, ivory, and jewels. At the feet of the god was an olive oil reservoir that reflected on the statue, creating the illusion that the god might rise and lift the temple roof. Imagine the awe it inspired in visitors over 2,500 years ago!
- Acropolis - The most sacred site of Ancient Greece, crowned by the pinnacle of Classical Greece, the Parthenon, richly decorated with depictions of the gods’ struggles and the focus of Athens’ largest celebrations for the Goddess Athena. Nearby is the Erechtheion Temple, dedicated to both the God Poseidon and Goddess Athena, who competed for the patronage of Athens.
Discover their rivalry, unravel the mysteries of the Parthenon, the events behind the myths, and the significance of these monuments both in ancient times and today in the lives of Athenians.
- Acropolis - ENDING YOUR TOUR. Your guide will conclude your tour at the Acropolis, where you can continue exploring on your own or enjoy the city’s sights!

The mythological realm of the Ancient Greeks was not a land of mere fairytales, but a vibrant world filled with a pantheon of tangible Gods. These deities could be conversed with, summoned, or encountered by chance during their visits to the mortal realm.
Choices, whether wise or foolish, could result in punishments like transformation into animals or rewards such as triumph in battle. Multi-headed Hydras dwelled in lakes, Centaurs resided in shadowy mountain caves, Griffins soared through the skies, and the islands near Athens teemed with creatures possessing extraordinary powers, from Minotaurs to Sirens. It’s no surprise that the mythology of the ancient world was an integral part of daily life for the Athenians, who immortalized these beliefs in every monument we admire today.
