- Materuni Waterfalls - On the day of the tour, guests will be picked up from their hotel at 7:30 am for a 2-hour drive to the village of Materuni, nestled in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro.
With an English-speaking guide, participants will embark on a hike to the Materuni Waterfalls. The trail, approximately an hour long, winds through lush green vegetation and past the homes of the Chagga people, one of Tanzania’s largest ethnic groups. During the trek, the guide will share insights into the Chagga way of life.
Upon reaching the waterfall, visitors will be awestruck by its impressive size. The water, cascading through the verdant jungle, originates from the snows of Mount Kilimanjaro! Here, guests can enjoy a refreshing swim in the natural pool below or explore the surrounding area further if they wish.
Feeling hungry? A midday break will be taken to enjoy a picnic lunch. Once re-energized, the group will head to a nearby coffee plantation to learn about this delightful locally grown product. From bean to cup, participants will see how natural coffee is roasted and, of course, have the chance to taste it too!
- Kikuletwa Hotsprings - Visit the Hot Springs to experience a unique natural phenomenon where hot water emerges. The turquoise blue, crystal-clear water invites visitors to take a refreshing dive.
- Moshi - The sanctuary spans over 1000 acres, developed in phases according to the needs of the animals, 50 acres at a time. Animals are ethically sourced from zoos and injured wildlife, with the goal of encouraging natural behaviors and eventually rehabilitating them into the wild with the support of TAWA and TAWIRI.
