Highlights
  • Arucas - We start the route heading north to visit Arucas, a small town famous for its large expanses of banana plantations and its production of sugar cane, considered “white gold” in past centuries. There we will walk through the old town and see the impressive neo-Gothic church of San Juan Bautista, one of the most emblematic buildings on the island.
  • Firgas - we will visit Firgas, a charming little village that we popularly define as the municipality of water due to its 30-metre waterfall fountain located in one of the streets in the centre.
  • Santa Maria de Guia de Gran Canaria - We will travel to the northern village of Guía, with its award-winning cheeses in bloom (optional tasting, from
    €3)
  • Agaete - On the way to the far northwest, we will appreciate the agricultural richness of the area, especially the banana, potato and vegetable crops. Our next destination will be Agaete where an explosion of aromas, flavours and colours will flood our senses: fruit trees, coffee plantations, banana plantations, vineyards, and tropical fruits. To experience it, nothing better than a guided visit to the La Laja estate and its Bodega Los Berrazales, (the only coffee producers on the island), a wonderful environment where we include the entrance fee and a coffee tasting.
  • Puerto de las Nieves - Our last destination will be Puerto de la Nieves, a fishing village par excellence, where we will have free time for lunch (not included in the price) or a stroll at your leisure

Well worth it. - Excellent guide. Well timed visits. The 40 minute cheese and wine tasting was in a sterile modern characterless hall above a food market. Cost €7 and that gave you 6 thin slices of 3 different cheeses and one minimal glass of red or white wine. Best left out of the trip or move it to the excellent coffee plantation in an amazing valley with it's own micro-climate. Overall then the trip was good value and very enjoyable.

Very enjoyable tour - don’t hesitate to book! - Well organised with a great guide and driver. The guide was very knowledgeable and we learnt a lot about the places we visited as well as the history and culture of Gran Canaria.

Amazing tour!! - A great day around the North of Gran Canaria. Very traditional and different from the south of the island. Lovely views, local food, and a super tour guide. The lunch stop view was breathtaking!

Great tour but not as advertised - While we liked our tour and thought it was a great experience. We did feel a bit of a switch and bait as there was very little coffee tasting (only one location). Also the wine part wasn’t included or even a focus of the tour. More transparency on what was included would have been great, and would have resulted in 5 stars.

Not recommended - Firstly it appears that we paid over $50 on the now advertised price. The driver and guide were great, but that is as far as it goes. You do not visit a winery or a cheese factory, instead you are taken into an empty shopping mall and offered three slim slices of cheese and a thimble full of wine at an extra cost of 7 Euros per person. A complete rip off. The lunch stop is a very beautiful fishing village and you have 45 minutes to have lunch, which basically meant negating with the local restaurants “what can I have so I don’t miss the bus”. Last point, depending where you board the bus, expect to spend up to 30 mins at the beginning and end of the tour picking everyone up across the city of Las Palmas. Really not worth it.
