This packed tour made my Amritsar trip both enjoyable and memorable, and a gold star to John Gill - The tour took a few minutes over 10 hours, so the tour certainly lives up to its ten-hour claim. The driver was a quiet guy whose name I didn’t get, but he was a great driver and navigated the fast and the narrow streets with ease. The guide was a great chap called John Gill. Not sure if that’s his real name, but it doesn’t matter - what matters is that he was an amazing and very attentive guy. John took his time to talk about the history of every place we visited and always gave me a solid answer when I had questions. Our first stop was the Golden Temple. You cannot come to Amritsar and NOT go to the Golden Temple! To say it’s beautiful is an understatement. John showed me the Community Kitchen nearby too, which the Sikhs built a very long time ago (we’re talking centuries, not just years!) to feed everyone because Sikhs believe that all people should have food and water as a bare minimum. Next stop was the Partition Museum, which gives a detailed history in words and images of how India came to be split into India and Pakistan. Amritsar is kind of stuck in the middle (although technically not in the middle of India, geographically) of this political mess. Just like the Golden Temple, you cannot come to Amritsar and not visit this museum. Lunch time arrived and John asked me if I had any ideas of where I’d like to eat lunch or if I’d like his suggestions. I said that a friend suggested Haveli, which he said was a solid choice - so the driver dropped me off there and my pickup would then be 3.45pm to continue the tour. For transparency, I was given 2 hours for my lunch which is a good amount of time to catch your breath, give your feet a bit of a rest, and hydrate. Next stop was the Raj Tower where we spent over half an hour exploring the area, before driving off to the Atari-Wagah Border which is the “event highlight” of the tour as it’s something you take part in as a spectator. A ceremony - kind of like a “dance-off” - takes place between trained guards from both the Indian and Pakistani borders. The whole thing takes about 2 hours, and I’d say be prepared for a loud sounds. I’d say the event is possibly not suitable for autistic people and definitely not for young kids because it’s way too long for them. The ceremony capped off an excellent tour, and I’d like to give thanks once again to John Gill and his driver for making my Amritsar trip a memorable and enjoyable one. Peace and love to all in Amritsar!

I’m - Amritsar is known for its Golden Temple. It was a delightfully sight. It was impressive on how many people were fed each day. The tour of the kitchen was mind boggy given that it was run by volunteers. The transportation and the guide Wawa wonderful. The reflection of the temple in the water at night was gorgeous.

2 days in Amritsar - Excellent 2 days spent with Lazia. Her English is perfect. She has extensive knowledge of the area customs and everyday living of the people regardless of religion. Visit to the golden temple was a humbling experience.she listened to what we wanted to cover in the day and did her best to accommodate. Having someone explain the procedures etc at the border made everything go smoothly. Food recommendations excellent . Interesting person gave us insight yo her own personal life. We only wish she was our guide for the rest of our trip. !

disappointing - Really disappointed with this trip. We arranged an English speaking guide and he was not very good at all. He told us very little about the Golden Temple and it's historyor about some of the things that were going on. We had to keep asking questions. The trip to the Wagah border ceremony was brilliant but the driver told us to leave before the end as he wanted to miss all the traffic! the ceremony was still going on. It was such a shame as this was the only trip we had booked thinking it would be a good idea to get the history of Amritsar.
