- Silves - Situated overlooking the town below Silves Castle is considered the best preserved of the Moorish castle in Portugal
Silves’ red sandstone castle, which dominates the town, was built by the Moors who held the Al-Gharb (Algarve) region from the 8th to 13th centuries. During this time, Silves (known at the time as Xelb) became an important centre of trading and culture and was the capital of the Al-Gharb.

Embark on a journey through the finest spots in Algarve, without the hassle of navigating and finding parking spaces.
We intend to impart as much local wisdom, historical facts, cultural insights and valuable tips as we can. Additionally, you will have personal time at each location for exploration.
For semi-private tours, WE DO NOT COLLECT participants from multiple locations.
Hence, this tour begins at a singular gathering spot, at the public car park directly across from the Vila Galé Cerro Alagoa hotel at 9:00am, and culminates at the identical spot roughly at 4:00pm.
Adherence to scheduled times for each visit is required.
At Silves, we’ll park by the river and guide you on foot to the fortress.
In Monchique, we’ll find a parking spot outside of town, and escort you on foot to the town center, providing useful tips. The guide will then establish a rendezvous point for pick up, and thereafter, the guests will have upwards of 2 hours to appreciate Monchique independently.
We appreciate your compliance.
- Not recommended for people who can barely walk. This tour has quite a few walking tours.
