A Journey to the Heart of Adventure

As a biologist and environmental activist, I am always on the lookout for experiences that allow me to connect with nature in its most raw and unfiltered form. The Dream Hammocks and Epic Zipline adventure in Abejorral, just a short drive from Medellin, promised just that—a day filled with adrenaline, breathtaking landscapes, and a chance to immerse myself in the natural beauty of Colombia.

The journey began with a scenic drive through the lush, rolling hills of Antioquia. The road, a mix of paved and rugged 4x4 paths, was a prelude to the adventure that awaited us. As we approached the eco-park, the landscape unfolded into a tapestry of vibrant greens and cascading waterfalls, setting the stage for a day of exploration and discovery.

Upon arrival, the eco-park felt like a sanctuary, a perfect blend of comfort and wilderness. With amenities like a restaurant, bar, and gardens, it was a welcoming base for our activities. The air was filled with the scent of fresh earth and the distant roar of the waterfall, a constant reminder of the natural wonders surrounding us.

Embracing the Elements

Our first activity was the dream hammocks, suspended high above the ground, offering a unique perspective of the valley below. As I lay there, swaying gently in the breeze, I felt a profound connection to the environment. The experience was both exhilarating and meditative, a moment of stillness amidst the day’s adventures.

Next, we embarked on a hike to the base of the Rio Buey waterfall. The trail was steep, but the park had thoughtfully constructed steps to aid our descent. As we neared the waterfall, the air grew cooler and the sound of rushing water intensified. Standing at the base, I was enveloped by the mist and the sheer power of the falls. A rainbow danced in the spray, a fleeting but magical sight that left me in awe of nature’s artistry.

The via ferrata route offered a thrilling ascent alongside the waterfall, providing a close-up view of its majesty. Climbing up, I was reminded of the importance of preserving such pristine environments, not just for their beauty, but for the ecosystems they support.

Soaring Above the Canopy

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the zipline, a heart-pounding ride across a vast valley. As I soared through the air, the world below seemed to blur into a sea of green, punctuated by the occasional burst of color from flowering plants. The sensation of flying, coupled with the panoramic views, was nothing short of magical.

After the zipline, we returned to the eco-park for a well-deserved lunch. The restaurant, nestled amidst the gardens, offered a taste of local cuisine that was both delicious and affordable.
