2 Days hiking in Atlas Mountains from Marrakech

During the Berber Village Exploring you will spend 2 days with the Berber people of the Atlas Mountains. Your journey will start in the beautiful Imlil Valley, with its terraces and small towns set into the hillsides.

The Berber people are a very ancient people that predate the arrival of the Arabs and Islam. Their lifestyles have grown in harmony with their beautiful, but severe environment. Berber food has kept them strong for the mountains: it consists of breads, soups and barley products in the main - and only the Berbers themselves can make it. Many Berbers make their homes from pise, which is a combination of stone and mud, for their families, which tend to be large..

Before you get back to Imlil village to pick you up back again to Marrakech to have more time if you like to explore othere parts of Morocco

Mount Toubkal Winter summit February 2024 - A bucket list trip to climb the highest peak in North Africa - Mount Toubkal did not disappoint, simply breathtaking 🔥 With the help of my amazing professional mountain guide Moustafa, one of Omar Adventures best guides, I stood on top of Mt. Toubkal shortly after sunrise on day 2. The views were worldly. An incredible experience full of laughs, fun amazing food & stories that I will cherish forever with these amazing Berber people Thank you for a memorable trip Omar & team, can’t recommend you guys enough 🤝❤️

Family trek around the Atlas Mountains - Omar and his team provided a wonderful experience for our family! We originally were booked in for a Toubkal summit trip, but a big snow storm came through and shut down the pass and made the trek unsafe. Omar was on his way back from Toubkal and was able to completely rearrange our trip in hours! My family and I had a wonderful time trekking from village to village with Omar’s team. The route around the Atlas mountains was beautiful, the people were super friendly and the food on the trek was fantastic! We will definitely be back to Morocco to summit Toubkal with Omar. I can highly recommend his services to anyone including families with trekking age children. Ours were 17, 14 and 13.

An incredible Moroccan trip led by Omar, “the greatest guide ever” - Omar Imerhan is a terrific guide. He’s incredibly knowledgeable about his country and he connected us with friends and contacts who invited us into their homes for delicious Moroccan food and great company. We stayed at incredible Moroccan hotels rather than American-owned hotels. This added a lot to the experience.

Exhilarating, humbling and enjoyable - Omar has a calm manner with great sense of humor. He easily can assess the strength of each hiker and give good advice. He shares the necessary information ahead of time and keeps the hikers well informed on the plan, geography of the region, government, and culture. It was a great experience for me to hike the beautiful Atlas mountain with Omar.

Try it, it was a great experience😁 - It was a great trip, great new people I got to know. A great organization from the transfer from the airport to the summit, everything was well planned and there were no problems. And above all a big thank you to Omar, he is a great tour guide and a great person. He was responsive to all needs and brought the group together very well. PS. I would do the trip again in a heartbeat😁

Hiking Mt Toubkal - This is our second trip with Omar and we came back because he is such a fantastic guide, he is full of knowledge, experience and especially for this hike he had so much insight and we made it to the top safely and were able to take in the breathtaking views :) The food was brilliant and so much of it (we are vegetarian) we were never hungry!!! Would definitely recommend!

Outstanding - Omar is an excellent host and tour operator. All transport, food, and accommodation was arranged for us and taken care of by him. We were hosted in Imlil at the riad of one of his many cousins (it seems everyone in Imlil is related to Omar!) and Hussein cooked an absolute feast for us. Omar himself showed us around Imlil and helped us rent any gear necessary; e.g. my friend rented boots and crampons for 300 dirham, and I rented a down jacket for 50 dirham. While he didn't personally guide us up Toubkal, we were in the capable hands of his cousin and fellow mountain guide Lasan who was outstanding and very fun to spend the 2 days with. Youssef our porter and muleteer was excellent too and cooked us another feast for lunch on the hike from Imlil to the Toubkal refuge. What was brilliant about Lasan was that he recognised our own mountain experience and fitness and was very comfortable letting us move at our own pace both in ascent and descent, including giving us a bit of a lie-in on summit day and some inpromptu self-arrest practice on the descent from Toubkal! We had an absolute blast on the 2 days spent climbing Toubkal and would climb with Lasan again in a heartbeat. After returning to Imlil from the Toubkal refuge, we were driven to the Hotel Gomassine in Marrakech for our third and final night on the trip. We had a late flight the next day so we were able to spend most of the day exploring Marrakech and everything it has to offer, after which Omar's cousin Abdul picked us up at the hotel and dropped us off at the airport. I can't recommend Omar and his people enough. They were friendly, fun, and amazingly hospitable at all times, and they are the kind of people to bend over backwards to help you. Morocco can seem like a crazy place when you initially arrive at the airport and drive through the city en route to Imlil, but at all times we felt safe and well looked after by Omar and his people. I would recommend him to anyone thinking of travelling to Morocco for a guided holiday of any duration, and I look forward to meeting him again on my next trip to the Atlas Mountains.
