- Monastero Shaolin (Shaolin Temple) - The friendly tour guide and driver will collect guests from their downtown hotel in Zhengzhou to begin an exciting day tour. Guests will travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned private vehicle to the first destination, Shaolin Temple, located in Dengfeng County, Henan province, approximately a 1.5-hour drive away. Originally constructed in 495 during the Northern Wei Dynasty (368-534), the temple gained prominence 32 years later when an Indian monk named Bodhidharma arrived. Since then, the temple has expanded with more monks and a growing reputation, earning the title ‘the Number One Temple under Heaven.’
With the tour guide, visitors will explore Shanmen Hall, Hall of Heavenly Kings, Thousand-Buddha Hall, Pagoda Forest, and more. They will also witness an authentic Kungfu performance by Shaolin monks and enjoy a delicious lunch at the Temple.
- Longmen Grottoes - Following this, the tour proceeds to the next destination, Longmen Grottoes, which is another 1.5-hour drive away.
This Buddhist cave complex, located 13 kilometers south of Luoyang in Henan province, showcases some of the most important and beautiful examples of ancient Chinese stone art. The grottoes were carved with Buddhist themes from 493 AD to 1127 AD. The Longmen Grottoes encompass over 1,400 grottoes and caves spread across Longmen Mountain and Xiang Mountain, which stand across the Yi River. They contain more than 100,000 Buddhist statues, 2,500 tablets, stelae, and other religious artifacts.
After the tour concludes, guests will be transported back to their hotel in Zhengzhou or Luoyang.
