Stone Town day tour - We made a last minute booking and Khamis (Giklik) was kind enough to accommodate our request. He was on time to meet us at our hotel. He knows Stone Town inside out and also in-depth history of Zanzibar. It was a quick (2.5 hours) and informative history lesson. He also knows the history of the old buildings (which ones were previously embassies etc). His tour is neither flash nor patronising. If you want a well dressed guide who only tells you all the good things about Stone Town then Khamis (Giklik) is not your guy. He is a down-to-earth guide who shows/tells the good, the bad and the ugly sides of Stone Town. He'll take you to stinky local markets and not-so-clean back alleys, so that you can get the real local experience. Isn't that what we all want from a real local walking tour? Be sure to give him a generous tip at the end of your tour.
