The actual trip was so good, but the waiting was more annoying. - Before the trip the communication was good. But the car ride was a little weird because the driver was late. Then we can't find the boat and nobody helped us. We waited an hour for the ride and there was no shadow.
After an hour a man said we got a private boat and they are so sorry about the waiting. The boat driver was so kind and helpful. The trip was very nice, we saw a turtle as well.

Saddest conservation ever! - Tui were a disaster with the trip. No idea where we were being picked up, advised 2 diff places by 2 people. We got on a tui bus eventually and the whole outbound trip I was on app trying to find out what we were booked on our email ticket had 1 day and time but the app a diff day and time. Missed the entire landscape we hadnt seen for 20years. Tui are Hopeless would never go on another excursion with them.
The boat was packed. No shade. We sat on lifeguard box uncomfy. Way over subscribed. We were sold it as a green turtle mission to explore the conservation and learn.
We saw 4 turtles, 3 were by port must be fed to keep them there. Only 1 out to sea. The boat circled it. Felt sorry for the animal and wished they hadnt done that, tbh alot of the boat guests were saying that too.
2 swim stops, full sun no shade. Boring if you don’t want to swim. Barely any actual boat journey.
The beach that 20 yrs ago people werent allowed on is now full of people, floating bars and idiots on speed boats pulling up and lying on the beach. Truly shocked at the Greek Government for allowing this.
Speed boats everywhere surprised there are turtles left! The conservation pitch we endured for a long time on board did not echo at all the reality of what was happening. Wish the party people would stay in Laganas and leave the turtles alone but it was like a below deck 13-30 party fest out there! Sir David would have had a fit!
The car park was treacherous with traffic. The port uneven and trip hazard, beware for any with mobility issues.
Avoid, donate for the turtles & pray for them. Against people they don’t have a chance!

Short Summer Holiday - I was very disappointed after this bad experience of the tour for seeing Turtles (caretta caretta) for the number of boat and motorboats in the area with a crash risk among them. The thing was very far from turtles seeing but very similar to a stressed turtles hunting. Besides, not to mention the visit to the turtle island (Matathonisi Island) invaded by tourists who pay little attention to the place who arrive with small and large boats not at all interested in the turtles and their protection, but only in a cold beer and other drinks sold by bar boats anchored on the "turtle" beach not at all equipped even to collect garbage. In the front sea sea in addition many motorboats driven by inexperienced people with a serious danger for the swimmers. In my opinion this experience is not to tell and to suggest for the poor turtles protection. The Zakinthos Island deserve more than this noisy and rude turism ……

Dangerous driver - While the turtle experience and boat trip to turtle island itself was very enjoyable, as was looking at the blue caves afterwards, unfortunately I can't say the same about the journey to and from the hotel. On the way out the driver was in the phone the whole journey. On the way back he kept picking his phone up and was scrolling through it, and also picked up a load of paperwork which he read while driving ( see attached photo), even doing it on approach to junctions. At one point he nearly ran in to the back of a truck.
When we got to Laganas to pick up the boat he dumped us out, said the boat wasn't in yet and to pick it up down there pointing to a jetty where there was lots of boats. We asked if there was a toilet on the boat or if not where to find one. He said there was one on the boat. He told us the boat to look for was a white boat.
He SHOULD have walked us DOWN TO WHERE THE BOAT COMES IN, so we knew exactly where to pick it up from. It wasn't a white boat but beige and didn't have a toilet. We only found it coz we walked along and asked each boat operator if we were with them. Definitely not happy with the service from this company. The boat trip itself I can't fault.

Cruelty to animals - We did the boat trip for turtle watching and were shocked how a single turtle was circled by several boats so that all tourists could take a picture. This is animal cruelty!

Turtle Gaffer Tour - Greed Eats Brains - Yes, a turtle has been discovered!
Yes, one has actually dared to go near the mainland, probably one of the last.
4 boats are circling the frightened animal, after all, all gawkers should be able to take their own photo, because they paid for it.
This has nothing to do with nature, it is pure animal cruelty.
But what the heck, soon they won't be there at all.
Greed eats brains.
Then the unfriendly locals are left with the three littered, overcrowded beaches, the 500 restaurants that offer exactly the same thing and the necessary evil, the tourist. Who then speeds across the island on quad bikes and disturbs the idyll.
By the way, the photo is from the turtle rescue station. You'd better go there if you end up here.
We watched the above-mentioned activity from a distance.
The landscape is fantastic if you have blinkers on.

Attracts tourists - A somewhat disappointing excursion as it consists of arriving with a boat at a point not very far from the shore to glimpse a turtle (and I underline one) for a few minutes at the "modest" price of 10 euros
