Highlights
  • Yulara - Your professional tour guide will show you the real outback they love and enjoy so much.

You will be collected from outside the Outback Pioneer Hotel, Desert Gardens or Sails in the Desert in Yulara (Ayers Rock Resort) between 11:40am-12pm. You will then drive to the World Heritage listed Uluru and Kata Tjuta National Park.

  • Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park - From here one of your two guides will take you on a guided Mala Walk. The Mala Walk follows the north-west side of Uluru, where there are many fine examples of Anangu rock art, and you can experience the wonder of the sheer vertical walls. The guide will tell dreamtime stories of the Anangu People.
  • Mutitjulu Waterhole - From here start your second Uluru guided walk to the Mutitjulu Waterhole. The guide will take you along a short track to the Mutitjulu Waterhole – home of an ancestral water snake called Wanampi. The guide will share stories of local traditions and explain how the Anangu people traditionally used the waterhole for hunting. The caves containing rock art were used in the past by Anangu still alive today.
  • Uluru - Head to the base of Uluru (Ayers Rock).
  • Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre - Visit the Aboriginal Cultural Centre where you will have time to learn about the local Pitjantjatjara people and buy some souvenirs. The Cultural Centre was built with 90,000 mud bricks with the help of the local Anangu people. It is built on a sacred site and has very special meaning to the local Anangu people.
  • Kuniya Walk - Drive from the front of Uluru around to the Kuniya car park, which is at the back of Uluru.

Do not miss this - Our tour guide, Yad, was wonderful. He told stories and legends of the local people. He was able to point out all of the interesting sights and give great explanations. Seeing Uluru at sunset was a fun and unique experience. As many have mentioned, the many, many flies during the BBQ were annoying but the experience was wonderful in spite of them.

The Rock Show - We went with our family, including our 2-year-old child. We were able to enjoy Ayers Rock, which we wanted to see, all day long because the weather was good. It was a wonderful experience. Thank you. The tours offered by the hotel had age restrictions, so this tour allowed our child to join us. Some reviews said that the bus was disappointing, but that wasn't the case at all. The bus was air-conditioned and clean. Our guide, YAD, was not only a careful driver, but was also very friendly and we had a great time. Although we participated with a small child, the other participants and YAD were very kind to us, which we were very grateful for.

Amazing experience - An amazing day trip from Alice Springs and back. Had great weather, and tour guides Charlie and Yad were very knowledgeable, upbeat, patient, and entertaining. Have travelled a lot over the world, but this is one of those experiences you will never forget. The rock formations, colors, stories of the guides, and sundown BBQ feast were all exceeding my expectations, and totally worth the very long drive. BTW: toilets and places to buy some drinks/snacks along the way - bring enough water and a hat!! Thanks very much, Yad & Charlie!!!

Amazing Rock/Yummy BBQ/Too Many People/Bad Time Management - Loved that we saw the rock from all angles and could see how much detail it had and learned some of the legends about the rock's formations. Wonderful to see the little waterfall and lagoon inside the rock. And it was great that we could even touch the rock at one particular place. The BBQ dinner at sunset was lovely! NEGATIVES: 1) Your publicity material guarantees a group of no more than 30 people max. There were 49 people in our group! So false advertising. 2) Our guide mismanaged the time so that we arrived at the Cultural Center 10 minutes before it closed. This was most unfortunate because the Center looked very interesting and there was lots to see and learn there. We really missed out on that.

Interesting history of Uluru /Ayres Rock - I thought Yad gave us a very nice tour. It was quite hot, and he was very good at reminding us to stay hydrated! He had plenty of water for us to refill our water bottles. We so enjoyed learning about the history of the area. The sacred Uluru and the people. The tour states that there would be snacks - we had an apple about 4+hours into the tour. A granola bar after 1st hike would have been nice.

Too hot and too many flies!! - Seeing Uluru was quite an experience but I would recommend going when the weather is cool. It was 106F and the flies were awful.
