Additional Information

The splendour of York is breathtaking. It was once quoted by King George VI, ‘The narrative of York parallels the chronicle of England.’ This couldn’t be more true. Historically, York has been a dwelling for inhabitants ranging from Romans, to Saxons, to Vikings, and Normans. It has served as the ‘hub’ of the north, a formidable player in terms of trade, commerce and dominion across the ages. The York of the present day is a dynamic, contemporary city with one of the most insightful glimpses into history you’ll ever encounter.

Accompany me on a journey through my intriguing hometown, to expand your knowledge about its past and understand the elements that have shaped it into the city that stands today. Trace the path of ancient Roman troops and rampaging Vikings, navigate through age-old streets, linger in the aura of one of the world’s finest cathedrals and admire the panoramic view from the city walls.

Amazing History - Richard was extremely knowledgeable about the history of York and we visited many places that were hidden away. This was a godsend because as a tourist you would have no idea of their existence. I was surprised how much area we covered. York has an incredible history and I highly recommend Richard's tour as the perfect introduction to your time here.
