A delightful and informative day - Our guide Tom brought history to life with his well researched honest and entertaining stories associated with Leeds Castle and Canterbury Cathedral. He made everyone feel included and valued and ensured with his commentary as we walked that all would recognise landmarks and return to the bus. For others he waited and escorted them. But his story telling was second to none. I am a museum guide myself at home in New Zealand and Tom was a lesson in how to do it and how to truly enjoy it. A great day out.

Superb Roman Walking Tour - John brought history alive. I knew just enough to be dangerous but he answered our questions making connections I hadn’t thought of before. He was extremely knowledgeable! His command of dates and historical figures was unmatched. He had such enthusiasm for the subject and he was able to transport us back in time by painting pictures with his words. I actually saw the Romans rounding the bend on the Ouse coming in to make fort at York. He was always willing to answer any question and brought the history to life flawlessly.

treasure trove of information - I was happy to have done this very small and personal tour on foot on my very first day in York, as the history imparted gave me a great starting point for my look at the city. The guide, John, was kind enough to wait on me as I was late due to difficulty in finding restroom facilities, and was very knowledgeable and interesting. This was a good experience, I recommend!

John relates history in a way that brings it to life - We had a great time with John who was well versed in Roman and Viking history. It made us much more appreciative of what we saw in York when we were on our own. He’s very animated and makes the history come alive!

Outstanding narration! - I highly recommend that you connect with John and take this tour of York if you get a chance. He has such great commentary, is well versed on history and anthropology of the town and is absolute fun! While it was just so fascinating to walk and talk, John also has a great way of connecting. He truly loves to share what he knows and is the best storyteller. Went with my family and we still can’t stop talking about how great a tour is was. We’ll do it again for sure the next time we visit

Highly recommended - John was passionate, funny, and so well informed about not just Roman, but Viking and Medieval history in York. He engaged so well with our 10 and 13 year old, and us. He brought history alive for us all. Can't recommend highly enough.
