After you’ve made your tour reservation, you’ll rendezvous at the Guy Fawkes Inn, situated across from the church of Michael Le Belfrey. This will be your introductory spot to learn about the notorious plot hatched by Guy Fawkes and his fellow conspirators, right where the man himself was born!
Next, we’ll move on to the grounds of York Minster, where you’ll delve into the cathedral’s long and intricate past. Our journey will also take us to other iconic York locations such as The Shambles and Museum Gardens, amongst others!
When you’re scheduling your tour, do keep in mind that each of our tours are unique! Based on your available time and interests, I aim to lend a personal touch to every experience.
The sights mentioned are merely a fraction of the numerous locales awaiting you in York, so should you wish to undertake another tour, rest assured that it will provide a whole new perspective!

Everything you need in one tour guide. David is an excellent ambassador for York and their tourism. - David's knowledge and passion about York and everything in and around it was amazing. He brought the history alive and always had interesting and funny anecdotes to add along the way. Not only did he have all the local knowledge and history he also manages to articulate how York fits into the wider historic picture. If you are here, make sure you book early with him as he gets busy. We were lucky to meet up with him at our hotel the Guy Fawkes (which is excellent) where he carries out tours for their guests but also a number of other local hotels and pubs. Highly recommend.

What an engaging, knowledgeable man - Was wondering where to start...we came across Dave, while we were staying at the Guy Fawkes Inn. I heard him talking to another couple, and was impressed with his knowledge and engaging manner. We then introduced ourselves, and joined him on the tour he was about to do. He is really proficient at many things. He noted who wanted to do what, and when. His knowledge of history, details, and lesser known stories is amazing. What a lovely guy! Highly recommended

Engaging tour that lasts as long as you want. - We did pretty much full day, 1030am till 415pm. Dave is very engaging and knowledgeable of York and has plenty of added engaging anecdotes to keep you interested. Well worth the 'tip' we gave him for the time we spent with him.

Dave Haws is THE man to bring York to life - Dave is a marvel - we were staying in the Guy Fawkes Inn ( another marvel ) and they told us about his walking tours: we are SO pleased that we went on one, it absolutely brought every nook and cranny of York to life. Dave is so knowledgeable - but also extremely affable and all four couples on our tour were friends by the end. Our trip to York was made by taking that tour - when we come back we will certainly be searching him out again ( and staying at The Guy Fawkes Inn !) as historic York is a living thing in Dave’s presence.

Excellent guide. - Excellent speaker, very clear even with yorkshire accent. Extremely knowledgeable and happy to take questions anytime. Incidents and stories to make the place come alive. Happy to dodge any party line. Passionate on history up to the present day.

Excellent introduction to York! - Dave was friendly, kept a look out for me at the meeting point so he could introduce himself and - as I happened to be the only person this tour - endlessly flexible about what we saw and how long I wanted to walk about. He showed me places I definitely would not have found on my own and his knowledge is encyclopaedic. I would highly recommend!
