The Wings of Tatev will take us straight to the 9th century Tatev Monastery, which once was the educational and spiritual center of Armenia. It’s built on a high plateau in the Vorotan river gorge, and is surrounded by breathtaking mountains and dense forests. During your ride, you will enjoy a spectacular view over one of the most beautiful spots in Armenia (if not in the world). Here you will see the Harsnadzor Watchtower and Devil’s Bridge, which is a natural viaduct formed on the river.
  • Tatev Monastery - A monastery dating back to the 9th century, which once used to be an educational and spiritual center of Armenia. It’s built on a high plateau in the Vorotan river gorge, and is surrounded by breathtaking mountains and dense forests.
  • Areni - Areni is known for its spectacular history in wine making, bearing the name of one of the oldest grape varieties in the world. So if you are a Wine connoisseur, don’t miss out on the opportunity to visit Areni and all of its vineyards.
  • Shaki Waterfall - Shaki is considered one of the most picturesque waterfalls in Armenia. It is located in Syunik region, which is famous for its historical and natural monuments.

The waterfall is formed on the Shaki River, on the inflow of Vorotan that falls into a deep gorge from a height of 18 meters. Despite the small height, Shaki waterfall has a large capacity, and the rumbling of water is heard from afar.

There is a legend connected with the Shaki waterfall. The story tells about the beautiful girl Shake, who rushed from the cliff, refusing to obey the will of the conquerors. While falling, the girl’s dress opened in the wind and turned into a waterfall. In honor of Shake, the waterfall was called Shaki.

The territory of Shaki waterfall was inhabited by ancient civilizations that left traces in rock niches and grottoes. A winding road leads to the waterfall, still, you will have to leave the car and get to the waterfall by a narrow path.

Review of Tatev Monastery, Winery, and Shaki Waterfall Tour - Visiting Tatev Monastery and Shaki Waterfall was an amazing experience. The views were breathtaking and worth the long journey. Our guide, Anastasia, made the trip smooth and enjoyable with her knowledge and friendliness. Our driver, Karen, was very nice, although he drove quite fast on the tight and bumpy roads. Overall, the tour was fantastic and highly recommended for its stunning scenery and great organization.

Gondola ride with spectacular views in combination with mystical atmosphere around a centuries-old beautiful monastery - Beautiful monastery and almost completely walled with some ruins. Almost mystical atmosphere upon arrival, largely in the mist. There was even just a service! The breathtaking return trip by gondola (approx. 6.3 km) to the monastery was spectacular. The part where the bishop lived has a fantastic view over a deep green valley. You can also admire enormous centuries-old storage jars for oil, olives and wine (in the ground). Definitely wouldn't have wanted to miss the Tatev Monastery! Highly recommended for both nature and history lovers. With a bit of luck, birds of prey will float around you during the gondola flight. Given possible crowds - especially during the tourist season - it is advisable to reserve the gondola in advance. Enjoy the atmosphere

The best trip in Armenia! - Thank you very much for the wonderful trip and friendly atmosphere to guide Anastasia and driver Marat! The excursion was not monotonous, the guide told an interesting and not loaded story, Anastasia has a great sense of humor, the excursion was structured with a competent breakdown of time for all locations, the winery is a special love.💘 The guide Anastasia felt the emotional state of each excursionist and somewhere gave more time to rest. Also, especially for us, excursionists, she asked the driver to stop in a picturesque place so that we could take beautiful photographs. At the market, Anastasia even got us a discount! The driver Marat drove very carefully, communicated with everyone, and he also has a wonderful sense of humor. Thank you very much for the trip! I will definitely recommend to my friends to go on an excursion with Marat and Anastasia!
