- Hovhannavank - The Hovhannavank Monastery is named after John the Baptist. The oldest structure here is a single-nave basilica, constructed in the 5th century. In the 13th century, under the patronage of the Vachutian dukes, additional buildings were constructed. The main church’s portal, adorned with evangelical motifs, is particularly noteworthy.
- Saghmosavank Monastery - Located 5 km from the Hovhannavank Monastery, on the edge of the Kasakh River canyon, the Saghmosavank Monastery was built in the 13th century by the Vachutian dukes. The main church is connected to the scriptorium, where numerous manuscripts were created over the centuries. Saghmosavank was significantly affected by the 1988 earthquake. The restoration, completed in 2000, restored the church’s beauty and splendor.
- Karmravor Church - This beautiful church is considered the gem of Ashtarak, resembling a monolithic pillar due to its small size and architectural design. Built in the 7th century, it has remained almost unchanged to this day. The Karmravor Church features a cross-shaped floor plan both inside and out.
- Gourmet Dourme Mini Chocolate Museum - “Gourmet Dourme” is a chocolate brand established in Armenia in 2007 by Pierre and Diran Bagdadians, two brothers from France and Austria. The brand’s name combines Armenian and French origins: “gourmet” meaning epicure and “dourme” meaning chocolate. The chocolate production is based in Ashtarak town in the Aragatsotn province, with several shops in Yerevan offering a wide variety of chocolates: regular, gift, and even personalized options.
The chocolate house tour lasts approximately 30-40 minutes, during which visitors can observe the production process through a transparent window, followed by a delightful chocolate tasting. Visitors can also listen to an audio presentation on the history of chocolate and its production stages.
- Aghdzk - The Arshakid kings’ mausoleum is situated in the Aragatsotn region in the village of Aghtsk, where the remains of both pagan and Christian kings were interred. This small, rectangular hall is remarkable for its decorative and thematic elements. The northern wall features a relief of Daniel in the lion’s den. There are also numerous ornaments and symbolic carvings, reflecting both pre-Christian and Christian art. Adjacent to the mausoleum are the ruins of a 4th-century church.
