Highlights
  • Han Yang Ling Museum - The Han figurines unearthed in Hanyang Mausoleum are very noticeable. They are only one-third the size of real people, about 60 centimeters tall, naked and without arms. According to research, these warriors were dressed in beautiful clothes when they were just finished. Their arms were made of wood. They were inserted into the round holes in the shoulders of the warriors so that the wooden arms could rotate flexibly. However, after thousands of years of wind and frost, the clothes and wooden arms were decayed, leaving only bare and incomplete bodies.

Additional Information

The Hanyang Ling Museum was constructed in the fourth year (153 BC) of Emperor Jingdi’s reign during the Han Dynasty and reached completion in the third year (126 BC) of Emperor Yuanshuo’s era. The construction spanned 28 years and the museum extends over a 20 square kilometers expanse.

Known as the collective mausoleum of Emperor Liu Qi and his consort, Empress Wang, the Hanyang Ling Museum is located in the Xianyang Plain, within Zhengyang Town’s Zhangjiawan, Hougou Village, in the Weicheng District of Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province. It serves as an ideal venue for immersing oneself in the ancient customs, historic events, and architectural styles of China.

Following lunch, the itinerary continues with a visit to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Erected in 652 AD during the Tang Dynasty, this pagoda stands as an impeccably conserved ancient structure and a sacred Buddhist site. The tour also includes the City Wall, renowned for being the most complete surviving section of ancient Chinese urban fortifications. It holds the distinction of being the largest and most well-preserved ancient city wall system on a global scale.
