- Hook-A-Barra - Hook-a-Barra at the award-winning Daintree Saltwater Barramundi Farm offers fishers and non-fishers the chance to catch one of Queensland’s most iconic fish in an idyllic tropical setting.
The Hook-a-Barra fishing experience lasts for one hour and includes an Introduction to Barramundi Fishing tuition session; all equipment; catch and release pond fishing; assistance from our expert fishing guides and access to special viewing tanks.
Hook-a-Barra’s ponds are filled with over 1500 barramundi and other species ranging from 50cm to over 1 metre, but these fish are not trained to jump on your rod, so you’ll get plenty of tips to perfect your technique.
Hook-a-Barra is suitable for all ages and abilities with a huge range of tackle and a fly-fishing option for expert anglers, plus everything a beginner needs to get hooked!
Non-fishing guests are also welcome with a general admission ($10 payable on arrival) providing full use of all facilities, picnic area and viewing tanks.

Barra magic - We were the only two on the 9.00am tour, which was fantastic as we had wonderfull, knowledgable Steve all to ourselves. We both caught fish and dropped a few monsters. Great value for money. Highly reccommended.

Awesome Fun - Hook a Barra - Hook a Barra - Great fun had.
We did the 4-hour tour with a pickup/drop off from Pt Douglas. Michael, our guide was fantastic and showed us around the Daintree Saltwater Barramundi Farm.
A Barramundi lunch was provided on this tour and was delicious.
Then we got into the fishing 🎣. What fun! Thanks, Michael, for giving us the tip on the best spot to cast the line into the pond.
All the staff were knowledgeable and helpful and determined for us to get the most out of the day.
We highly recommend this experience. Addictive 🙂

Great couple of hours fun on the barra farm - The experience was such a lot of fun. Didn't take long to hook a barra and we managed to land and successfully release the ones we caught. The crew were amazingly helpful. Would highly recommend.

Awesome day catching Barra, great experience - We had such a wonderful day catching Barra, so much fun and a great experience. Fantastic staff who helped us out. My daughter had never caught a fish before, and caught a great big Barra with coaching from the team.
We all caught fish on the day
We followed up our fishing with a fabulous meal of Barra burgers, fish and chips

Must do regardless of fishing experience level. - Everything provided to have a great experience . Guides were very knowledgeable and willing to help participants of all ages.

Amazing experience - Aaron and Josh staff members was excellent they really help you out explained every step so you can bring your barra in.
It’s a awesome experience even if you don’t love fishing the adrenaline when you have a hooked a barra the process of bringing your Barra in

Fun experience - My fishing obsessed (adult) son was desperate to give Hook a Barra a go so four us went, two for fishing, two to watch. It was great fun with both son and husband catching good fish in the allotted hour. The two staff members were friendly and knowledgeable. We knew from the start that it was 'catch and release' which is exactly what we wanted. Would thoroughly recommend.

Amazing fishing experience and awesome lunch. - My wife and I took my two teenage daughters fishing and we all had a great time. Finished the fishing off with some Barra and chips which was amazing! I can’t recommend it enough!

Amazing - Best place for people who love fishing, Employee: Jake was great! He helped me catch a fish, how to cast, where to cast, and extended our time. We payed $60 for 1 hour and he let us keep fishing and we stayed another 30 minutes. Great time.
